The Door Opens: WUW, DEXCON and FPW Share a Ring in August
Since 2022, Pinoy wrestling has been split into two camps entirely. On one side is the collective of DEXCON, PUSO and World Underground Wrestling, all based around The Brawlpit Bulusan. On the other side is Filipino Pro Wrestling. In that time even the occasional nod between them has been rare, but on August 15th the two groups come together in a way we have not seen before.
World Underground Wrestling has announced Fight Night 4: 4-Bidden Door at Brawlpit Bulusan, and the card will feature talent from WUW, DEXCON and Filipino Pro Wrestling. Three promotions, one ring, one night. Tickets are on sale now under WUW's pay-what-you-can model, with spots booked through direct message.
The name is of course a nod to the AEW and NJPW crossover shows, and the idea behind it is the same. Two worlds that do not usually touch are being pushed together to see what happens.
Why this is different
WUW and DEXCON sharing a card is not news. They are family. Both run out of the Brawlpit in Bulusan, both fall under the same building, and the two promotions spent much of this year building a new ring together after years of using a modified boxing ring. Wrestlers move between them freely, and fans treat them as branches of the same tree, along with PUSO Wrestling, which from the outside looks to be going through some restructuring at the moment.
Filipino Pro Wrestling has built something separate. Rarely do the two camps even give each other much acknowledgement. As far as we can tell, the two sides have not shared a show since FPW launched following the demise of PWR, although the history here is not always agreed on locally. The interactions we have on record are Robynn's participation in the Pwersang Pinay Gauntlet Match in November 2024, and Legendarius attending some recent Brawlpit events.
What could we see
Match announcements are still to come and will be hotly anticipated.
Huge champion versus champion showdowns could happen, with Jake De Leon (who recently name-dropped the promotion) or new PUSO Champion Nigel San Jose going up against FPW Champion Quatro or Metro Manila Champion Jan Evander.
The DEXCON and WUW women's roster has been gaining a lot of traction recently, and we may see CWE Vixens Champion Super P, or Joya, who holds the Lakambini ng DEXCON Women's World Title, face off against Robynn, Roxy Reeves, Kimmy Larue or Penny Haze. That is assuming both are still champions by then. Of course, others such as Chelsea Marie, Crystal and Trixia may want in on that action too.
Then there are the other potential dream matches, which could include Robin Sane, Jomar or Ravena facing off against the competition's top stars such as The YOLO Twins, Cali Nueva, or even the whole of Sigma.
