Professional wrestling in the Philippines is experiencing a series of successes which this writer thinks could lead to a boom period in the country and hopefully around Southeast Asia, with major promotions making significant strides to reach wider audiences and elevate homegrown talent. Dexcon has secured broadcasting deals with Solar Sports and Triller, promising to bring local wrestling to mainstream platforms and showcase Filipino wrestlers to an international audience. Meanwhile, PUSO Wrestling’s livestream series has been a resounding success, drawing in viewers with thrilling action and compelling storytelling, and Filipino Pro Wrestling (FPW) is gearing up for the long-anticipated return of FPW Astig to television screens..
Amid these promising developments, the Filipino wrestling scene continues to shine through the talent and dedication of its wrestlers. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest stars currently defining the sport in the Philippines.

Jake De Leon
Known as "The Senyorito," Jake de Leon is a cornerstone of Philippine wrestling. A co-founder of Philippine Wrestling Revolution (PWR), de Leon’s charismatic presence and technical prowess have made him a fan favorite. He became the inaugural PWR Champion and later transitioned to the Manila Wrestling Federation (MWF), where he captured the MWF Championship in 2022. Trained locally and with international experience, including a WWE tryout, de Leon remains a trailblazer and an inspiration for aspiring wrestlers across the country. Thanks to his success he was able to make appearances in Japan for Gatoh Move and Choco Pro. These days you’ll find him main eventing cards for Puso, Dexcon and WUW in his home country while also making appearances in Singapore for SPW and Thailand for SETUP.

Main Maxx
Main Maxx, the heart an soul of Pinoy wrestling, has carved out an impressive legacy. As the longest-reigning champion in PWR history, Maxx brought an unmatched intensity to the ring. He later joined MWF and became a part of Oro Plata Mata before making history as the first-ever PUSO Wrestling Champion. Maxx’s unwavering commitment to the sport, along with his dominance in the ring, solidifies him as one of the country’s top competitors.

Chino Guinto
The aptly named "Golden Boy" Chino Guinto is a dynamic performer whose agility and charisma light up every arena. A two-time PHX Champion in PWR, Guinto overcame injury setbacks to reclaim his title and show his resilience. His journey through PWR and FPW has made him a beloved figure, and his high-energy style continues to captivate audiences. These days he’s one of the top wrestlers in FPW and has made international appearances such as in Vietnam.

The YOLO Twins
Yohann and Logan Ollores, better known as The YOLO Twins, are a high-flying, energetic tag team that made history as the inaugural PWR Tag Team Champions. Their natural chemistry and impeccable teamwork helped elevate the tag division, and their presence in FPW keeps them at the forefront of the scene. With a mix of cocky charm and undeniable skill, the twins are a vital part of the Filipino wrestling landscape.

Mike Madrigal
"The Walking Death" Mike Madrigal is known for his relentless aggression and no-nonsense attitude. A former PHX Champion and the first FPW Champion, Madrigal has built his reputation on brutal matches and fierce rivalries. Whether in PWR, FPW, or beyond, Madrigal’s style is as punishing as it is effective, and his championship pedigree speaks for itself.

Robynn
Robynn broke barriers as the first woman to compete for the PWR Tag Team Championship, paving the way for greater representation of women in Filipino wrestling. Her tenacity and skill have made her an icon, and her presence in the ring is a testament to the growing inclusivity of the local wrestling scene. Robynn’s legacy continues to inspire the next generation of female wrestlers.

The Super Friends
The Super Friends are an extremely popular three person tag team wrestling for Dexcon and Puso. Made up of alien superhero Super P, Puso’s ‘Sweetheart’ Patricia Ligaia and masked here El Kapitunero, you would be forgiven for thinking all three are pure lower card comedy. Far from this all of them are established, capable wrestlers. Super P using her knowledge of classic British wrestling often sets up dynamic double teams with El Kapinanero while Patricia has become an established wrestler who can go toe to toe with the men in a very short space of time, only a few years back she was an interviewer. Brandishing catchy merch, a custom theme song and flying the flag of friendship this is one group not to be missed.

Fabio Makisig
Fabio Makisig is a rising star whose unique blend of technical wrestling and daredevil aerials has earned him a growing following. Competing primarily in PUSO, Maskig’s fearless style and never-say-die attitude make him a standout performer. What’s impressive with Fabio is his ability to switch his character from wonderful comedy foil into a serious competitor when needed. So far in the PUSO Livestream series we’ve seen him forget which team he is on against the Nigel San Jose and Isaiah Valencia and trade crisp technical holds with Super P among other highlights. He’s quickly climbing the ranks and is widely seen as one of the next big breakout stars of the Philippine wrestling scene.

Chelsea Marie
Chelsea Marie is a powerhouse performer with a fiery in-ring style that has turned heads across the local wrestling landscape. A key figure in the growing women's division, she combines hard-hitting strikes with impressive athleticism. She’s been a fixture in FPW and Dexcon, steadily building her reputation as a top contender and inspiring more women to step into the ring.
Final Words
The Philippine wrestling scene is thriving, with promotions expanding and wrestlers reaching new heights. As the sport continues to grow, these athletes — and many more — are shaping the future of Filipino wrestling, bringing their passion and talent to fans across the country and beyond. With Dexcon, PUSO, and FPW leading the charge, the golden age of Philippine wrestling is just beginning, and the best is yet to come.
The rise of Filipino wrestling is a testament to the resilience and passion of the wrestlers and fans alike. With more opportunities, bigger platforms, and a steadily growing audience, the future of the sport looks brighter than ever. For those eager to witness history in the making, there’s never been a better time to tune in, support local promotions, and cheer for the homegrown heroes shaping the next chapter of Philippine wrestling.
