Wrestler of the Week: Robin Sane – The Fastest Pinoy Wrestler

Credit once again to HanzelBee for the amazing photography!

As Dexcon Dakila is around the corner. SEA Wrestling wanted to highlight one of the founding fathers of modern Pinoy wrestling. He’s the fastest Pinoy wrestler on the planet and his friends know him as Red Lightning. He’s Robin Sane. From underdog to icon, Robin Sane’s journey through the heart of Southeast Asian wrestling has been nothing short of breathtaking — or in his case, Phoenix Splash-ing.

Robin Sane debuted in 2014 as one of the founding wrestlers of Phillipine Wrestling Revolution at PWR Renaissance, stepping into the ring as a wiry, unknown high-flyer. What followed was a career defined by risk-taking, reinvention, and resilience. After a stint in Philippine Wrestling Revolution, Sane, alongside Mr. Lucha and Fabio Makisig, helped found the Manila Wrestling Federation (MWF).

At MWF 6: Noche Buena in December 2018, Sane overcame his fiercest rival, Fabio Makisig, to become the inaugural MWF Champion, concluding a grueling 16-person tournament with a highlight-reel Phoenix Splash. He carried the championship into 2019, defending it against names like Moises Liwanag and Rex Lawin, before eventually losing it to Ho Ho Lun at MWF 10: Republika.

Since the closure of MWF, Robin Sane has been a top level performer in Puso, Dexcon and WUW Philippines. His recent tag match with Nigel San Jose against Jake De Leon and old rival Fabio Makisig was hailed as classic. Whether he’s competing in a fast paced sprint in Dexcon, brawling in the Underground or performing as a cat for a Puso Livestream, Sane always brings his A game to the ring.

Beyond MWF, the “Serial Driller” has expanded his reach across Asia. He’s competed in Malaysia Pro Wrestling, tangled with SPW’s The Horrors in Singapore, and challenged for the IWA Japan SETUP World Tag Team Titles in Thailand. His reputation as a top-tier Southeast Asian performer has only grown with appearances in Dexcon, PUSO Wrestling, and World Underground Wrestling.

Notable international opponents include Ho Ho Lun, The Ladykiller, Shivam, and tag team specialists Da Butcherman & Dr. Gore — all of whom have helped sharpen the Pinoy’s already lethal edge.

In-Ring Style: Pinoy Speed & Substance

Call it “Pinoy Style.” Sane blends Dragon Gate-inspired high speed, American showmanship, and Japanese shoot-style stiffness, all filtered through a uniquely Filipino lens. His influences range from catch wrestling to Melbourne shuffle footwork, and his arsenal includes a devastating Rider Kick and seamless aerial assaults.

As a co-creator of the “Pinoy Style” identity, Sane champions a wrestling culture that’s both proudly local and globally competitive.

What’s Next: The Serial Driller vs The Patron Saint of Shoot Style

This Sunday at Dexcon Dakila, Robin Sane faces a major test against Saint John Martin, “The Patron Saint of Shoot Style.” It’s not just a match, it's a clash of philosophies. Martin represents gritty realism and brutal efficiency. Sane brings speed, style, and story. Expect fireworks. possibly blood.

This isn’t just another match on the card. For Sane, it’s a chance to prove that Pinoy Style can hang with the purest forms of wrestling around the world. A win at Dakila could be the launching point for the next chapter of his legacy.

On a final note, it felt wrong to have not included Robin in the "Wrestling in the Philippines" article for SEA Wresting Magazine when he's such an important part of the Pinoy scene. That was about space and presenting an equal picture. Today, right here we want to recognise you Robin, just you for all your hard work!
