If you follow professional wrestling in Southeast Asia, even casually, you probably know some of the key stars shaping the pro wrestling scene. Mention Malaysia, and Miles Karu (@mileskarupro) is likely one of the first names that comes to mind—for good reason.

Miles Karu is one of the most exciting professional wrestlers to emerge from Malaysia's thriving wrestling promotions. When you meet him, you’ll also realize he’s one of the nicest and most genuine people in the wrestling business today.

Beginnings

After completing his training in 2019 with Malaysia Pro Wrestling and debuting under the name “Steektin Hill,” according to Cagematch, Miles started his career with a series of losses while he found his footing. His final match under his initial moniker was a losing effort, tagging with Fionn MacCool against Gun Crew (Lethal Daus & Revolver Boy).

Not only was this the end of Steektin Hill, but it was also the temporary pause of Miles’ wrestling career while we all went home for a bit due to reasons not worth mentioning.

The Rise of Miles Karu

Once the dust settled and wrestling resumed, Miles continued his training and began appearing in front of audiences for Grapplemax in 2022 at Fightclub 3, serving as a cornerman for both veteran Cornelius LOW and his soon-to-be tag team partner, Wonderboy.

By 2023, Miles was itching to get back into the ring. He faced off against Aussie Aussie Aussie, tagging with Jack Alexander. Watching the match today, it’s clear that Miles was still regaining his confidence. As the match progressed, his performance evolved from one of trepidation to one resembling a grappler years ahead of where he was. Unfortunately, Miles and his partner lost to the more experienced team in this outing.

The tide would turn fairly quickly for Karu. Just one week later, Malaysia Pro Wrestling held its first event post-pandemic. At New Breed in March 2023, he participated in a fatal four-way match against Cornelius LOW, Crystal, and Tyson Reed in a unification bout for both the MYPW National and Wrestlecon Titles. Not only did Miles impress in this high-stakes international, intergender wrestling match, but he also secured victory over his mentor, LOW, with a Fameasser to win the Malaysia Pro Wrestling National and Wrestlecon Championship titles. Almost overnight, Miles Karu transitioned from a young prospect to a future star.

Continued Singles Run

Parallel to his tag team success, Miles unfortunately had to vacate his singles titles due to an injury in 2023. Returning in 2024 with a more muscular and chiseled physique, Karu has been regaining his footing while also gaining international experience.

Over the last year, he has competed against some of the top professional wrestlers in the region, including Zhan Wen in Malaysia Pro Wrestling (MYPW), The British Horror in Vietnam Pro Wrestling (VPW), and the brutal Shivam in SETUP Thailand—showcasing his versatility in different wrestling styles. Although he lost all three bouts, Karu demonstrated that he can hold his own against main-event-caliber opponents. With a few more years of experience, he will likely seek redemption and reclaim championship gold. His technical in-ring offense and dazzling high-flying moves are already competitive on an international level.

Training the Stars of Tomorrow

Although most wrestlers measure success by their in-ring achievements, Miles has also been a prominent member of the MYPW Training Center. He provides insight and support to new trainees as well as wrestlers across the region. For his dedication—and for the time he spends engaging with fans through autographs, photos, and conversation—we want to say thank you to Miles Karu and recognize him as our Wrestler of the Week!

The Juicy Boyz

Miles’ story progressed rapidly at this point, almost like a Hollywood biopic that skips the unimportant parts and jumps straight to the next key event. His next move took him and Wonderboy across the Johor-Singapore Causeway, where they made their highly anticipated debut in Singapore Pro Wrestling, a leading Southeast Asian wrestling promotion. The Juicy Boyz were born. Unfortunately, their first opponents were the formidable Horrors (Da Butcherman and Dr. Gore), who defeated them in a hard-fought encounter. Despite the loss, they earned the respect of the veteran tag team.

It was around this time that The Juicy Boyz’s disdain for Singapore Pro Wrestling fans may have developed. The audience overwhelmingly supported the local team, even encouraging some questionable tactics from the Malaysian duo.

Continuing alongside Wonderboy, the team performed in Malaysia against The Saigon Hunters and overseas for VPW against Venomshank. During this time, they began an homage to Joe Hendry, creating custom music videos about their opponents. Both The Saigon Hunters and Venomshank videos are available online. These catchy, hilarious productions endeared them to fans across the region, boosting their popularity.

Then, in November of last year, the team won their first set of tag team gold, finally overcoming The Horrors to capture the SPW Tag Team Championship. However, by the time they returned to SPW earlier this year to defend against Jack N Cheese, the fans turned against The Juicy Boyz, siding with the local duo—especially after an intentional disqualification victory. Since then, the duo has refused to return to SPW to defend the titles.
