Puso Wrestling - Main Maxx Vs El Katipunero
This match took place at Puso Wrestling Unang Tibo on August 17th of 2024. This was the penultimate match and a first round contest in the Pusong Pinoy Championship Tournament that was one of the main stories being told over the promotions first year in operation.
Main Maxx is truly one of the heart and souls of wrestling in the Philippeans, dedicated to in ring and outside the ring work while El Katipunero and the superfriends are one of the more standout character groups in the whole SEA Wrestling region, I always smile when I see them.
The match is well paced with technical action and the finish is impressive. A good introduction to the world of Puso!
Classic Match! Joe Pgi Vs Macho Franco
This match was broadcast on TV sometime in the late 80’s or 90’s as part of the Pinoy Wrestling show. There’s no exact date for this match happening or airing. We found it during some research work for our upcoming article on the history and present of wrestling in the Philippeans.
While the action compared to some of today’s modern high flyers might not be as flashy it shows how many different regions influenced the style of wrestling at the time in the country. The muscle physiques scream 1989 WWF while the physicality of the standing and floor moves has that 80’s puroresu touch of All Japan and New Japan at the time. If you spend some time watching other acts you’ll see character influences from World of Sport (UK), Mexico, Europe and even 80’s Japanese Joshi.
