Results from VPW: The Rumble 2025

Last night (August 16th) at VAIB Studios, Vietnam Pro Wrestling ran their fourth annual Rumble show — and honestly, it felt huge. The place was sold out, loud, and wild from start to finish. We got some surprise debuts, international guests, title changes, and one of the most chaotic Rumble matches VPW has ever done. Here’s how it went down.

Da Butcherman (SPW) def. Sid Nguyen (VPW)
Butcherman tried to get in Sid’s head before they even touched, playing mind games like only he can. Sid nearly had it wrapped up when he went for the coup de grâce, but it didn’t land clean. That tiny slip was all Butcherman needed — snap German suplex, three count, and just like that the Singapore monster walked out with the win.

The Classic Night def. Vortex Rebellion — New VPW Tag Team Champions
If you weren’t there, you missed one of those all-time VPW moments. Vortex Rebellion did exactly what you’d expect: they cut the ring in half and beat down Billy while Bobby could only watch. Just when it looked hopeless, An D ran in to even the odds, and the place exploded. Bobby hit a massive frog splash on Xumin Long, got the pin, and Classic Night became two-time champions. The crowd went nuts, and even Xavier Patricks looked misty-eyed seeing how much it meant to the fans.

Ares (c) def. Jake De Leon (SETUP 24/7 Champion) — VPW Openweight Championship
This was technical wrestling versus raw power. JDL did everything right at first — working the joints, slowing Ares down, trying to frustrate him. But the story flipped. Instead of the champ cracking, it was JDL who lost his cool. That gave Ares the opening to hit his spear–Stormbreaker combo and keep the title. Big win for the “Unstoppable Force.”

Main Event: 26-Man Royal Rumble Winner: Rocky Huynh

The big story of the night was the 26-man Rumble, and in true VPW fashion it was chaos, surprises, and storytelling all the way through. At the end, Founder Rocky Huynh threw out Jimmy AG to grab the Sure Shot briefcase — and maybe British Horror with it.

Key moments from the match:

  • The first two entrants were brand-new faces: Meteor Kid, a VPW Academy graduate with a Dragon Gate look and style, and Ronnie, a mysterious, white-masked luchador. Didn’t matter though, because D Austin flattened them both.

  • Phuong Nam and Xavier Patricks actually teamed up against Austin, which was cool, but the big man swatted them aside.

  • John Day had a short but hilarious showing — he got rocked right out of the ring and stumbled all the way to the back.

  • KPY looked fantastic here, maybe his best Rumble yet.

  • The SEA villains showed up: Da Butcherman, Miles Karu, and Jake De Leon banded together like some unholy alliance, dominating until they dragged Phong Tran out and beat him down with chairs.

  • Just when it looked grim, the roof came off as Fugo Fugo Yumeji and Sanyu made their returns, storming the ring and clearing house.

  • Ares and Butcherman reignited their feud outside the ring in a wild brawl — feels like we’re getting that one down the line, maybe even in Singapore.

  • Jimmy AG made his big return from injury, with the classic chicken gag for JDL, before jumping him instead. He made it all the way to the end, but Rocky Huynh had just enough left in the tank to toss him and claim the Sure Shot.

Overall Thoughts

The Rumble 2025 felt like a watershed moment for VPW. With surprise debuts, new champions, emotional returns, and imported talent integrated more deeply into storylines, the show carried the energy of a company stepping into a new era. Vietnam Pro Wrestling continues to prove that the world is not only watching—it’s taking notice.
