Vietnam Pro Wrestling - Spring Bash 2026 Preview

Vietnam Pro Wrestling Spring Bash is just a few days until the first and only wrestling promotion in Vietnam returns with their first major wrestling event of 2026. As the traditional opening show of the VPW calendar, the show is a vital starting point for each and every roster member to make a bold statement about stepping up and achieving greatness.

Where we left off

We left off with VPW at Vietnamania (Read in Issue 7), Ares was now known as the VPW Vietnam Champion, The Rocky Horror Show had beaten The Classic Night for the tag titles but failed to cash in the Sure Shot Contract due to Hy Draco making a shock return. Juicy Meat (Da Butcherman & Miles Karu) were continuing to be a thorn in VPW’s side after winning the tag team battle royal. Henry & Khoa continue a friendship full of frustration. Newcomers like Ronnie El Rapido & The Meteor Kid were looking to define themselves on the roster whereas the veterans looked to find a way to championship contention. With the six matches set, Spring Bash doesn’t look like any of these issues will be anything but settled, rather the opposite, they’ll be escalated to heights you won’t know unless you’re there in person.

Choose your fate 5 way: Kira Vs Khoa Truong Vs Slugshot Henry Vs Dokuga Vs Damien Wolfe

A match that is all about establishing momentum for the 2026 season. All five wrestlers suffered a difficult second half of last year and now they look to click the reset button.

Kira - Coming off a major loss against mentee KPY at Brawl Hallow’s Eve followed by his team failing to win the tag team rumble. Angry and frustrated, VPW’s most violent kicker feels further away from championship gold than ever before.

Slugshot Henry - A man who made a splash in 2025 storming into his first singles match and making quick work of opponents. But the youngster wasn’t so happy with the fact veteran Khoa Truong latched onto him. Henry seems to feel Khoa has been holding him back and derailing the opportunity for singles matches and victories.

“The Undead Spirit” Khoa Truong - Khoa certainly had some fun last year, tagging with Henry, wrestling in Da Nang and enjoying his stature as one of the more experienced VPW roster members. But with tensions in his beloved team, perhaps he needs to show Slugshot he still has that ‘it’ factor. Never winning a championship before, this could be his route to gold.

Dokuga - One half of one of the greatest teams in Southeast Asia, now standing alone. The most unsung technician in VPW, Dokuga is a man that needs direction and purpose.

Damien Wolfe - Similar to Dokuga, once part of an iconic team (VTX) he now finds himself lacking a partner as Phong Tran is out indefinitely. Is it time once again for Wolfe to ditch the floral shirts and return to the darkside that led him to the VPW Championship?

The winner will get an opportunity to name their terms, their stipulation for a future match. Not a guaranteed contract but an opportunity to choose a future match stipulation.

The Old School Vs New School Battles

At Spring Bash, It’s SPWC originals vs VPW Academy Standouts in three must see matches. Three men who shed blood, sweat and tears from the very first public show by Saigon Pro Wrestling Club in 2018 (Saturday Showdown) will do battle with their prodigies, three of the most talked about newcomers to Vietnam Pro Wrestling. Three men that have learned from the experience of these outstanding decade long veterans. No matter what happens in these matches, VPW will never be the same again.

An D Vs The Meteor Kid

Young, hungry and passionate for the business could easily describe newcomer Meteor Kid. He may well be the first wrestler to grow up idolising the VPW roster. Meteor Kid is a man who puts 150% into everything and then another 50% on top.

Now he takes a bold step by entering his first main show singles match where he’ll face off against one of his heros, VPW’s most respected veteran ‘The National Treasure’ An D. Once hated, now beloved by fans he is a symbol of the VPW perseverance to overcome and keep growing, defined by his career threatening injury from 2023.

An D took the challenge of Meteor Kid to provide another rookie an opportunity but he won’t be going easy. This is a match pitting experience vs youth and wisdom vs excitment.

Xiumin Long Vs Ronnie El Rapido

The second of these iconic battles is a battle of the luchador generations. For many years Vortex Rebellion’s Xiumin Long was the one and only masked man. Standing out for his beautiful self crafted masks and high flying moves, long was a must see on any night.

But now a new challenger has made his debut. Ronnie El Rapido sprang to life back at The Rumble where he became a smash hit with fans. Since then he’s taken some time to hone his skills and now re-emerges but straight into what could be many fan’s dream match and his nightmare. Ronnie meets his maker and ultimate test already in his career when he faces his biggest inspiration in what is sure to be a gravity defying encounter.

KPY Vs Jimmy AG

This one got personal very quickly. Jimmy AG, the movie star has taken a dislike to KPY the rapper. In recent on set interviews he criticised the young rising star as being a phoney and out of his depth.

Meanwhile, legit rapper KPY is VPW’s fastest rising star, poised for main event status. Already able to go toe to toe with the best, he is coming with a new look and fresh mindset focussed on reaching the top.

Spring Bash is his next test, should he win, he will be racking up even more singles victories that he has all so desperately sought out since Vortex Rebellion abandoned him at Spring Bash last year.

Meanwhile Jimmy AG is someone who looks to get back into title contention following his return from injury. Let us not forget this was a man that was set to main event VPW’s biggest show of the year Immortal Glory in 2024 before a freak injury.

But only one man can take that next step.

The Classic Night Vs Juicy Meat

Billy and Bobby have just about recovered from Vietnamania physically but how will they be emotionally at Spring Bash? Vietnam’s most popular tag team look to ride again by gaining contendership to the VPW Tag Team titles they lost in December.

Opposite them are the most unlikely of pairs. A duo that a year ago were tearing into each other across Southeast Asia with different partners now come together as Vietnam’s most hated foreign entity, Juicy Meat. The cock young Lyrical Lighting Miles Karu from Malaysia Pro Wrestling (MYPW) and Singapore Pro Wrestling’s (SPW) most terrifying star Da Butcherman face these two.

For one man, Miles Karu, this is revenge for the last time he faced The Classic Night he was not only defeated but humiliated with Juicy Boy partner Wonderboy.

At stake is a chance at tag team gold against the winners of the main event. Billy and Bobby may well get tricked and then ferociously slammed by Juicy Meat but the two men with the biggest hearts in Vietnamese wrestling may well overcome the odds once again.

VPW Tag Team Championship: The Rocky Horror Show © W/ Princess Death Vs Unstoppable Mamba: Ares & Hy Draco W/ Phuong Nam

Four of the Saigon Six face off in one of the most anticipated tag team matches in VPW history. All four men have been intertwined for so long it’s impossible to write up their entire history but now they clash in this epic main event that sees former allies face off, former enemies team up and epic stakes.

Fate was sealed once Hy Draco saved Ares and the VPW Championship from the clutches of The Rocky Horror Show. His reasoning? That it belongs in someone of good character's hands. While Draco and Ares may hate each other, after so many epic battles the two respect each other.

Now they look to not only win the VPW Tag Team Championships to become the 4th and 5th Triple Crown Champions of the promotion but also ensure The Rocky Horror Show are kept away from the VPW Championship.

Whichever team wins gets the next shot at Ares’ VPW Vietnam Championship. Could we see a triple threat with the two most evil men in VPW allied to take the belt off Ares or will we be treated to another round of the epic encounter that is Hy Draco Vs Ares.
