2024 concluded on a high note for Vietnam Pro Wrestling (VPW) with Immortal Glory, held on December 7th in front of a packed house of enthusiastic wrestling fans. This spectacular event marked the end of another successful year, as VPW delivered six exciting shows throughout 2024, showcasing top-tier wrestling action and unforgettable nights of entertainment. Let’s revisit some of the year’s standout moments.
A Tough Act to Follow
Following 2023 was always going to be challenging for the now well-established promotion. Last year saw VPW hit major milestones: consistently selling out VAIB Studios well in advance, gaining international exposure through Chris Jericho’s Talk is Jericho podcast, and featuring a surprise in-person appearance from Jericho himself at Immortal Glory. The promotion also delivered thrilling matches, including the first—and likely only—appearance of Vietnamese-American wrestling star Viva Van, who faced her mentor, Japanese Joshi legend Sumi Saki. By the end of 2023, VPW had cemented itself as a premier entertainment experience in Ho Chi Minh City, earning critical acclaim from the local press.
In 2024, VPW focused on consistency, ensuring every event was entertaining and engaging. The dedicated roster continued to improve, while carefully selected guest talent elevated each show. Below, we dive into the year’s most significant storylines and achievements.

The Devil’s Playground Match and Khoa Truong vs. British Horror
One of the most compelling stories of the year culminated in a Devil’s Playground match at Ultimate Collision. This rivalry began in 2023 when Khoa Truong lost a Hair vs. Hair match against Kira, spiraling into despair and joining British Horror’s cult. As part of the cult, Khoa tagged with British Horror but endured relentless bullying. Over time, Khoa’s growing frustration with his mistreatment led to his retaliation, building tension among fans eager to see him stand up to his tormentor.
The Devil’s Playground match was a brutal, high-stakes confrontation. After a thrilling brawl, Khoa finally triumphed, even pulling off a jaw-dropping scaffold fall during the match. With this victory, Khoa moved on to face the Vortex Rebellion, pursuing long-awaited revenge against Kira, while British Horror shifted his focus to mind games with VPW founder Rocky Huynh.

Crowning the First VPW Women’s Champion
In May, Yuki Kamifuku made her debut and defeated long-time Singaporean rival Alexis Lee to become VPW’s first Women’s Champion. The match was a show-stealer, as both women delivered an intense, hard-fought performance. Since then, Yuki has defended her title in her native Japan for TJPW and across the region. Fans eagerly await her return for a home title defense in 2025.
The Vung Tau Experience Heel Turn
Once one of VPW’s most beloved teams, VTX (Vung Tau Experience) shocked fans by abandoning their good-guy personas. After enduring losses and setbacks, VTX re-emerged as arrogant heels, determined to retain the VPW Tag Team Championships by any means necessary.
Their matches with The Classic Night were among VPW’s highlights. Their first bout at The Rumble was particularly memorable—not for flashy moves but for the sheer drama and suspense. Though The Classic Night came close, VTX’s underhanded tactics secured their victory.
The 2024 Rumble
Although VPW promotes Ultimate Collision and Immortal Glory as its marquee shows, the annual Rumble remains a fan favorite. This year’s event was no exception, offering surprises, humor, and edge-of-your-seat action. Highlights included Mighty Mighty’s surprise appearance, X-Pat finally scoring an elimination, and HyDraco’s shocking upset victory over Ares to win the Rumble.

HyDraco Becomes Openweight Champion
HyDraco followed up his Rumble win by cashing in his title opportunity at Brawl Hallow’s Eve, defeating his trainer to capture the VPW Openweight Championship for the first time. Known for his high-flying abilities, HyDraco has become one of VPW’s most popular stars. His reign began with an impromptu victory over Xumin Long at Ultimate Collision, filling in for the injured Jimmy AG.

The Rise of Jimmy AG
Formerly known as Rykioh The Vinh, Jimmy AG underwent a dramatic transformation after suffering a head injury at Spring Bash, leading to a case of amnesia. Rebranded as Jimmy AG (a nod to An Giang Province), he adopted a flamboyant, brash persona. His bold outfits, cocky attitude, and flashy ring moves quickly made him a standout.
Unfortunately, Jimmy’s momentum was cut short by a broken arm. Fans are eager to see his return in 2025.
Ares: The Unstoppable Force
Ares had a tumultuous year, regaining the Openweight Championship only to lose it shortly after to HyDraco’s cash-in. Despite these setbacks, Ares delivered several standout performances, including a dominant showing at Saigon Slam and an MVP-worthy appearance at the Rumble. As we enter 2025, Ares appears poised to embrace his role as an anti-hero, much to the delight of fans.
Regional and International Stars Shine
VPW welcomed numerous international talents in 2024, including Alexis Lee, Yuki Kamifuku, Hungarian high-flyer Benji, New Zealand’s Michael Richards, Malaysia’s Juicy Boys, and Japan’s Shota. These performers helped elevate VPW’s in-ring product, and fans hope to see them return in the future.
Enhanced Production Values
One of VPW’s most notable improvements this year was its entrance videos and music. Brawl Hallow’s Eve showcased custom Halloween-themed entrances, combining clips, animations, and graphics that rivaled larger promotions. Music selections also improved, with memorable themes like VTX’s Tom Petty track. Fans hope this trend continues in 2025.
Overseas Exposure
VPW talent gained international exposure in 2024. The British Horror competed in Thailand and the UK, while the Saigon Hunters appeared in Malaysia for MYPW. In a surprising twist, the typically heroic Saigon Hunters turned heel for their MYPW match, mocking local fans and showcasing their versatility.
Hopes and Predictions for 2025
Looking ahead, here are some hopes and predictions for VPW in 2025:
More regional imports like Yuki Kamifuku, Alexis Lee, and new talents from MYPW and Singapore.
Expanded women’s matches to showcase local talent and defend the Women’s Championship in Vietnam.
New locations, such as Hanoi or Da Nang, for broader exposure.
Increased online content, including match uploads or recorded PPVs, to grow VPW’s audience.
A cage match, perhaps branded as “Saigon Steel,” to add a unique, high-stakes attraction.
Thank You, VPW
After a decade without regular live wrestling, VPW has reignited my passion for the sport. Their action-packed, lively shows have become a highlight of my life, and I’m grateful for the effort they put into every event. Here’s to another fantastic year in 2025!
