TJPW Bangkok Announces Major Matches Featuring SEA Wrestlers and Championship Stakes
Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling is officially returning to Southeast Asia on 13 December, partnering with SETUP Thailand for a highly anticipated event at Circus Studio—the shared base of SETUP and IWA Thailand. While the promotion had already revealed the participating talent, it has now begun releasing match announcements that have the potential to significantly shift the landscape of women’s wrestling in the region. These bouts are poised to draw unprecedented international attention to Southeast Asia’s growing presence in the women’s wrestling scene.
One of the most notable announcements is the Princess of Princess Championship match. Confirmed at SETUP’s A New Dawn event, SETUP All Asia Women’s Champion Matcha will challenge for TJPW’s top title. Matcha has built remarkable momentum over the past few months, securing victories against respected names such as Ram Kaichow, Raku, and Pom Harajuku. Her upcoming bout against Miu Watanabe could easily be considered the biggest and most high-profile match of her career to date.
Another major highlight sees Alexis Lee stepping into a championship opportunity of her own. Lee will challenge Shoko Nakajima for the Major League Wrestling World Featherweight Championship. For Lee—one of Southeast Asia’s most accomplished and recognised wrestlers—this match represents a rare chance to showcase her abilities on a wider global platform. Nakajima enters the contest with a 230-day reign, while Lee continues to make history with her astonishing 2,700-day run as CWE Vixens Champion. As the reigning SPW Queen of Asia Champion as well, Lee’s will be looking to add more global gold to her collection.
A potentially historic tag team title defence has also been announced. The IWA Japan SETUP World Tag Team Championship will be contested as Kaya Toribami & Miyu Yamashita defend their titles against Raku & Pom Harajuku. This matchup is likely the first time a traditionally men’s championship has ever been defended in an all-women bout anywhere in the world—and almost certainly the first time for a men’s tag team championship. Toribami and Yamashita recently secured the belts in a three-way match at A New Dawn in Japan.
The card will also feature appearances from Yuki Kamifuku, Arisu Endo, Suzume, Yuki Arai, Shino Suzuki, and Uta Takami, adding further depth to what is shaping up to be a landmark event.
Earlier in the day, SETUP Thailand will host an additional afternoon show at Circus Studio. Streaming details are expected soon; SETUP shows are likely to air live on Soop, while the TJPW event may be broadcast on delay through Wrestle Universe.
SEA Wrestling will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
