Thailand Wrestling News Update
The landscape of Thai professional wrestling has shifted dramatically with some major announcements coming out of SETUP and Paradise Sports Entertainment (PSE) over the past week — including a high-profile debut, a blockbuster main event reveal, and a dramatic loser leaves paradise match.
Zack Sabre Jr. Joins SETUP's Fight Against RGT
After months of speculation, it’s now official: Zack Sabre Jr., widely regarded as the best technical wrestler in the world and a former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, has chosen to align himself with Team SETUP in the ongoing war against Real Global Threat (RGT).
This move is a significant blow to RGT, who had been openly courting ZSJ in hopes of adding him to their growing ranks. However, Sabre Jr. has instead opted to stand with SETUP — a company he has watched closely throughout the past year, especially through their ongoing partnership with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
ZSJ emphasized that this wasn’t a rash decision. It came after careful consideration and out of a desire to support a promotion he genuinely respects. With his addition, Team SETUP now gains a numerical advantage over RGT — unless, of course, Shivam and Andruew Tang can recruit a third and fourth member soon. If they don’t, they’ll be facing a dangerous 3-on-2 handicap match at EP.22: The Fallen Kingdom.

Tournament Shake-Up in the UPRISING SERIES
SETUP also issued an official update regarding the UPRISING SERIES BLOCK A tournament. Due to an injury, Kevin Weng has withdrawn from competition. His scheduled opponent, Blick Drewz, has been awarded a forfeit victory and two points. In an unprecedented twist, Kevin has transferred his standing to Jeney — meaning both Jeney and Blick Drewz are now tied at two points each.
To resolve the standings impasse, SETUP has announced a high-stakes Triple Threat Match featuring Blick Drewz, Jeney, and Kru Pol. The stakes are clear: if either Jeney or Blick Drewz wins, they advance to the finals. However, should Kru Pol emerge victorious, he will move forward under the “head-to-head” tiebreaker rule, having already defeated the other two competitors.
Meanwhile, in BLOCK B, all competitors — Gunn, Pondhub, and Flame Drake — have unanimously agreed to continue the tournament as originally planned. Their commitment to competition, even amid changes elsewhere, speaks volumes about their dedication.
As a silver lining to his injury, Kevin Weng will remain part of EP.22 in a new role — as a special guest referee. SETUP praised Weng for his maturity and professionalism in handling the situation, lauding him for his clear communication and respectful attitude. It’s a sharp contrast to others who might lash out or form factions out of frustration. Weng's poise is a reminder of what professionalism looks like, and SETUP hopes this role becomes a meaningful bridge until his full return.

Matcha Set for International Tag Matches
On the international front, SETUP’s own Matcha will be making appearances this weekend in Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling (TJPW). She’s set to team up with Southeast Asian standouts Alexis Lee and Nor “Phoenix” Diana — representing the region in a high-profile tag match and showing just how far SEA wrestling has come.
Major Developments at Paradise Sports Entertainment
Over in PSE Thailand, another headline emerged as Chinese mega-celebrity-turned-wrestler XieMei made his official in-ring debut. Known for his pop star looks and undeniable charisma, XieMei’s crossover into pro wrestling has been highly anticipated. Early reports suggest his debut was met with significant fanfare, signaling a potentially massive career ahead.
In contrast, the promotion also witnessed a bitter farewell. Longtime PSE talent JT Producer has been forced to leave the company after losing a "Loser Leaves Town" match to rival Benji. JT’s departure marks the end of an era and leaves many fans reflecting on his contributions to the promotion.
