By SEA Wrestling May 25, 2025
Thailand’s pro wrestling scene is heating up across borders with championship victories, international collaborations, and blockbuster events that are capturing fans’ attention throughout Asia.
Gym Bros Crowned MKW Tag Team Champions in China
In a major win for Thai wrestling, Paradise Sports Entertainment’s own Sunny Z and Benji, known collectively as the Gym Bros, captured the Middle Kingdom Wrestling (MKW) Tag Team Championships this past weekend in Beijing, China.
The Thai duo defeated Chinese fan-favorites Sino Bad Boys (Wang Xinxuan & Zhao Junjie) in a hard-hitting bout that showcased their athleticism and chemistry. With this victory, Sunny Z and Benji become the first Thai tag team to hold gold in MKW, marking a significant milestone for both PSE and Southeast Asian wrestling.
Also featured on the Beijing card was an international tag match with Chen Wenbin & Yuki Kamifuku facing Alexis Lee & Big Sam, and a hard-fought MKW World Title defense by Wang Tao against Middle Eastern powerhouse Shaheen.
IWA Japan x SETUP Thailand Return Set for June 28
The highly anticipated IWA: Japan x SETUP Thailand joint show is officially set for June 28, and it’s bringing heavyweight stakes to Bangkok.
The event will feature a match for the IWA Japan SETUP World Heavyweight Championship, with rising star Jonathan Johnson stepping up to challenge for the prestigious title. Johnson, already a fixture in both promotions, continues his rise as a dominant force in the region.
In a tantalizing development, IWA officials have also revealed that they are in negotiations to bring full-scale Japanese-style deathmatches to Thailand. If approved, this would mark a dramatic and bloody evolution for Thailand’s hardcore wrestling scene. Stay tuned as this story unfolds.

SETUP: Fallen Kingdom Sold Out – International Stars Arrive
This Saturday, fans can expect an unforgettable night at SETUP: Fallen Kingdom, which has already sold out due to overwhelming demand.
The card features a massive main event as Zack Sabre Jr., Jonathan Johnson, and Jake De Leon take on the faction Real Global Threat in six-man tag action. The SETUP Women’s Championship will also be on the line as Japan’s Raku defends against Thai favorite Matcha.
Other international stars set to appear include Steve the Teacher, Scumdawg Sage Matthews, Daz Black, and Michael Su. The event also marks the much-anticipated return of Jeney, a beloved Thai wrestler who hasn’t competed in months.
The Bottom Line
Between international success, championship gold, and explosive match announcements, Thai pro wrestling is surging onto the regional stage. With promotions like PSE, SETUP, and IWA: Japan working together, and talents from around the globe spotlighting local events, the future of wrestling in Thailand has never looked brighter.
