SEA Wrestling Mid-Week Update – July 30, 2025
As Southeast Asia's wrestling scene heats up this summer, major announcements are coming in from across the region, including updates from VPW, DEXCON, PUSO Wrestling, APAC Slamfest, and more. Here’s everything you need to know going into the weekend:
VPW Rumble Kicks Off with First Entrants Revealed
The race to the top begins at Vietnam Pro Wrestling’s Rumble event, with the first names officially confirmed. Rising powerhouse Slugshot Henry, who has been on a dominant streak since his debut, has thrown his name in the hat. He’s joined by rising upstart KPY, fresh off his departure from Vortex Rebellion and hungry to prove himself as a solo act.
Meanwhile, speculation is swirling on social media after a Malaysian star hinted at making a return and entering the Rumble — but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Jonathan Johnson Heads to Japan
Jonathan Johnson is going international once again, with matches in Japan:

Jonathan Johnson teams with Sayaka Obihiro to take on Shinno Hagane & Munekatsu Nakamura.Baka Gaijin: FU FEST 2 @ Basement Monstar:
Johnson & Obihiro will face Sayaka & Baliyan Akki in what promises to be a high-energy affair.
DEXCON Weekender: Stacked Lineups and Dream Matches in Manila
DEXCON is gearing up for its triple-header weekend, loaded with top-tier talent from across Southeast Asia and beyond:
Jonathan Johnson returns to the Philippines carrying the IWA Japan SETUP World Title, defending it in a triple threat match against Miles Karu and Isaiah Valencia — a true generational showdown.
On Day 2, Philippine wrestling icon Crystal teams with returning fan favorite Romeo to face Kapatid na Solomon and newcomer Gabriel Arkanghel. Fans have been invited to name the teams in the comments!
A special Meet and Greet Mat Show will feature a three-way clash with Miles Karu, Saint John Martin, and Aaron Liwanag — a must-see for fans of regional rising stars.
The massive news to open the week: Nigel San Jose will face Shivam for the MyPW Southeast Asia Championship. The match is the deciding rubber bout in San Jose’s war against RGT, where he’s currently tied 1-1.
In a match all about pride and technical mastery, Fabio Makisig challenges El Katipunero at Baka Gaijin + Friends MNL, following his standout appearance in Dakila where he teamed with El Phantasmo against Zack Sabre Jr. and Jake De Leon.
Speaking of El Katipunero, he’ll also clash with Shivam during the Meet and Greet show, with Super P by his side to help counter RGT’s interference.
Mignificent Open: Entrants & Rules Unveiled
The Mignificent Open is set to mesmerize, with a mystical format and a lineup as flamboyant as its creator:
Confirmed participants: Chelsea Marie, Joey Rosas, John Day, Kappa Kozo, and Kappa Jr.
Expect more surprise entrants as “spirits” are summoned every 90 seconds.
Eliminations are by pinfall or submission.
Only one “Mignificent” competitor will remain to claim the grand prize.
PUSO Wrestling: Karera Part 1 Drops Tonight on YouTube
