Southeast Asia Wrestling Weekend Results Roundup: Prince Benny Retains, FPW’s Matira Matibay Shakes Up Manila, Miles Karu Debuts in Japan
The Southeast Asian wrestling scene delivered another packed weekend across Thailand, the Philippines, and Japan, with title defences, major returns, and international debuts shaping the headlines.
Prince Benny Retains King of Thai Wrestling Championship at Top Dojo Iron Will
Thailand’s Top Dojo presented Iron Will with Revolution Squad heavily involved throughout the event.
Prince Benny successfully retained the King of Thai Wrestling Championship against Golem Thai in a hard-fought 23-minute main event, securing victory with a schoolboy pinfall. The finish immediately sparked controversy as Golem claimed Benny’s win lacked honour. Moments later, Jay Yuu confronted the champion, nearly leading to a fight before Benny challenged both men to a future Triple Threat Match.
Earlier in the show, WASSANA defeated debuting BAPHOBIA with the Flush Jet in 10:16. Following the match, BAPHOBIA officially joined Revolution Squad.
P-Nutz of Bad Company forced CHAYUT to submit with the Silencer, while Jay Yuu scored a Triple Threat victory over KUMA and Best Boonpa after pinning Boonpa following a chaotic closing stretch involving a Big Boot to KUMA.
FPW Matira Matibay Features Returns, Championship Matches and Chaos
Filipino Pro Wrestling held Matira Matibay on May 17 at Baked Studios in Makati City with several major moments across the card.
Kastigo made his debut on the event and shared the ring with the returning Legendarius in one of the night’s notable developments.
SPD successfully retained the Grapplemax Openweight Championship against Mike Madrigal, while Ban Sachak retained the Grapplemax Rising Championship over Duke Ortega.
Jan Evander also retained the FPW Metro Mania Championship with a victory against Shaheen.
The headline Matira Matibay match saw Cali Nueva emerge victorious. The bout also featured the return of Evan Carleux, while Zabos appeared as an unannounced entrant and tore through Kid Kwago despite not being an official competitor.
Miles Karu Makes Japanese Wrestling Debut
Singaporean wrestler Miles Karu competed in his first match in Japan as part of a six-man tag team contest.
Karu teamed with Naomi Yoshimura and Yukio Naya against Akito, Daichi Satoh, and Kazuma Sumi, ultimately losing after 9:27.
Despite the defeat, Karu impressed early with strong chain wrestling and controlled stretches of offence. The match gradually increased in intensity, with Karu trading heavier offence during the closing stages before eventually being caught in a roll-up after absorbing several high-impact attacks, including a drop plant and lionsault.
