SETUP Under the Same Moon Preview and Predictions: The Pumi Boonyatud 15th Anniversary Show

SETUP Thailand returns to The Circus Studio in G Village, Bangkok on Saturday 29 August 2026 for Under the Same Moon. The show marks fifteen years in professional wrestling for Pumi Boonyatud, the man who built the first lasting professional wrestling promotion in Thailand.

The show is already a "Super No Vacancy" sell-out. That is the Japanese term used by SETUP and its partners for a full house where standing tickets have also sold out and the doors are closed. It is the same status the venue reached for TJPW Live in Bangkok last December.

The card brings together Southeast Asian veterans, the region's newest names, and one of Japan's most decorated women's wrestlers. Below is every match, the story behind it, and our prediction.

Pre-Show: Manuel and Admin Oak vs Mc Nexo and Mylson James (Exhibition Tag Team Match)

SETUP's top prospects open the show again, but this time the teams have been mixed up. Manuel has lost a string of matches against Admin Oak this year, while Oak and Nexo have built a strong partnership as a team.

Now the two partners split up. Oak lines up with Manuel, and Nexo teams with Mylson James, who fans should not confuse with Mr Lucha despite the similar look.

The competition between Nexo and Oak is the real story here. Both men want to prove they can lead a team rather than follow one. Whoever guides his partner to a win gets the bragging rights going into the rest of the year.

Prediction: Admin Oak pins Mylson James.

Kru Pol, Jeney and Dr. Gore vs Jack Alexander, Big Good Jack and Cheeseburger Kid (6-Man Tag Team Match)

On paper this looks like a straightforward, fun six-man tag. The story behind it is heavier than that.

First, Dr. Gore and Kru Pol reunite. Dr. Gore is now the international representative of St. John Innocent College, and he is also a more successful partner than Kru Pol has had before in his attempts to beat the best in Singapore.

The bigger story is between Big Good Jack (BGJ) and Jeney. What began as a small joke has become one of SETUP's most uncomfortable storylines.

In March 2025, Jeney appeared at SPW Unchained and lost to current SPW Queen of Asia Champion Selina. As a working relationship developed between Jeney and Selina, Jack decided to play a trick on Jeney. He told her she had been booked to appear on SPW's Heartland Havoc show. She had not.

Once Jeney found out, she asked for and was granted a special match against Jack in which she only needed a two count to win. She won that match at SETUP Under Pressure in July 2025.

The matter looked settled until May 2026. After SETUP Absolute Mayhem, an argument broke out at the merchandise stand and, as part of the ongoing storyline, Jack choked out Jeney in front of fans, wrestlers and his own tag partner Cheeseburger Kid. In June 2026 at Hellraiser, while Jeney was recovering from a loss to Super P, Jack came out uninvited and choked her out a second time.

To be clear, this is a wrestling storyline, and the actions are performed. We should also be clear that we do not condone what BGJ's character has done, and we have no interest in presenting it as entertainment.

SETUP's matchmakers have now asked both sides to put teams together and settle it. Jeney has recruited her St. John Innocent College allies, Kru Pol and Dr. Gore, and Dr. Gore knows these opponents well from Singapore Pro Wrestling.

Jack has brought his long-time ally Cheeseburger Kid. His third man is the more interesting choice: The Shaman of Secret Sauce, Jack Alexander, a man Jack has spent far more time throwing across the ring than teaming with. Perhaps throwing your enemy is knowing your enemy. Can Jack trust Alexander? Can Jack and Cheeseburger Kid trust the version of Jack they have seen over the last few months? And will this actually settle anything?

Prediction: Jeney beats Jack with a fast roll-up, but the story does not end here.

Monomoth vs Dewdy vs Fienic Rose (The Fabulous 3-Way Match)

A genuine dream match for Southeast Asia, and a match that celebrates the amazing emerging diversity in professional wrestling.

It also celebrates high flying, the youth of the Southeast Asian scene, striking costumes, pageantry and larger than life characters. These are core parts of professional wrestling, and all three men do them well.

Monomoth is a world-travelled icon who has wrestled in Japan and the United States to strong reviews. He is on a short losing run and needs a win more than either of his opponents.

Dewdy is a former Elegance Boyz member who has come back with a new attitude, a new style and the SETUP 24/7 Championship around his waist.

Fienic Rose is Malaysia's most talked about new name. He is a former IWA Japan SETUP World Tag Team Champion alongside Syawal as LOVExFRDM, and he has become a big fan favourite both at home and in Singapore.

Prediction: We think Dewdy takes this one. He is on a run of form, he is excited about facing these two for the first time, and he has the personality to steal the moment.

St. John Innocent College (c) vs P'Suchart and Naga Nai vs Mason and Khoa Truong (IWA Japan SETUP World Tag Team Championship, Three-Way Tag Team Match)

The first defence for the new IWA Japan SETUP World Tag Team Champions is a hard one, because they have to beat two teams rather than one.

At the last show, St. John Innocent College's Kevin Weng and Pondhub did the unthinkable. They defeated champions Matcha and Monomoth as well as Badd Company to take the belts.

One win does not make a team great champions. Weng and Pondhub are very talented and they used their speed well, but they now face opponents who are just as quick and far more experienced.

P'Suchart and Naga Nai are not a new team in the way that phrase usually suggests. Naga Nai is the newer man, but The Unpredictable P'Suchart is a former IWA Japan SETUP World Tag Team Champion himself as one half of Good Deal. The pair know each other well, and Suchart's habit of doing the last thing anybody expects makes them a difficult team to plan for.

The third team is SPW Hardcore Champion Mason and Vietnam Pro Wrestling's Khoa Truong, "The Undead Spirit". Fun-loving Khoa might look like an odd partner for Mason, but both men know how to fight a hardcore match. Khoa has been part of some of VPW's most extreme battles, including a fall from scaffolding. He is hungry for more international bookings, and a win here would give him the first championship of his career. While Mason has proved himself to be a true Hardcore Champion in recent outings.

These titles have changed hands often over the past eighteen months. It is now up to the champions to end that run.

Prediction: St. John Innocent College retain. Weng and Pondhub have worked together far longer than either challenging team, and three-way tag matches reward teams who stay calm while everyone else fights.

Anont Alonzo (c) vs Aiden Rex vs Isaiah Valencia vs Paksa (SETUP Thailand Openweight Championship 4-Way Match)

For Anont Alonzo, holding on to the championship is not the point. The point is to tell the whole Southeast Asian scene that a new main event act has arrived. Now a two-time IWA Japan SETUP World Tag Team Champion, Anont wants to prove that his singles title win was no accident. He has real ability in the ring, he is happy to buy any advantage he can, and he will face any challenger no matter what their record looks like.

Three dangerous opponents stand in his way.

Aiden Rex is one of the best technical wrestlers in Southeast Asia and a former SPW singles champion. He comes into this match on the back of a major win over MMA legend Shinya Aoki, and with a move to North America ahead of him.

Isaiah Valencia carries the flag for the Philippines' rising HY/OP faction. He returns to Thailand with momentum and with Jake De Leon in his corner. He is the only member of HY/OP without a championship, and he wants to change that.

Paksa completes the field, wrestling for the first time in almost two years. He has surgery ahead of him and a leg that has not fully healed. In his own words, he is still chasing the one prize the SETUP co-founder has never held: the Openweight Championship, the title the promotion started with and the one he believes should be his. The backbone of SETUP is back.

In a four-way match, the first wrestler to score a fall wins the title. Anont can therefore lose the championship without ever being pinned himself.

Prediction: We cannot back against a return story. Paksa takes the belt.

Matcha (c) vs Shoko Nakajima (SETUP All Asia Women's Championship)

Shoko Nakajima has been part of Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling almost from the start, having debuted in August 2013. When TJPW created its first singles title in 2016, Nakajima wrestled in the inaugural match. She has since held the Princess of Princess Championship twice and the Tokyo Princess Tag Team Championship twice. She also won the Tokyo Princess Cup in 2015.

Billed at 1.47m and from Niigata, Nakajima wrestles under the "Big Kaiju" nickname. It is a joke she makes about herself, and one her opponents rarely find funny by the end of a match.

Her career reaches well beyond Japan. She has worked for CMLL in Mexico, along with AEW, MLW, Pro Wrestling NOAH, DDT Pro-Wrestling and Chikara. In April 2025 she won the MLW World Women's Featherweight Championship on her debut for the company in Los Angeles, and she held it until February 2026.

The two women have shared a ring before. More importantly, Matcha's performances through 2025 earned her a shot at Miu Watanabe and the Princess of Princess Championship in the main event of TJPW Live in Bangkok on 13 December 2025. That match took place in this same building. Matcha came up short, but she pushed the champion hard.

The experience gap between the two has narrowed a lot since then. Nakajima is still the measuring stick and still the opponent Matcha has to beat. A win over someone with that record would be the biggest of Matcha's career, and it would come with the SETUP All Asia Women's Championship still around her waist.

Prediction: Matcha retains, and she does it clearly rather than by luck.

Carlo Cannon, Da Butcherman, Ares and Jonathan Johnson vs Real Global Threat (4-on-4 Tag Team Elimination Loser Leaves Town Match)

We have covered this match in detail across our other posts. What follows is the full background on why these eight men are fighting.

Pumi vs Shivam

Tension between the two has been building for a long time, from before Real Global Threat existed. Two different visions of what SETUP, Thai wrestling and Southeast Asian wrestling should be have grown further apart every year.

Things came to a head at Bangkok Navigation 2025, when Shivam took apart Monomoth in an attack nobody saw coming. The relationship between Pumi Boonyatud and one of his top stars has not been the same since.

From SETUP Doublecross onwards, Real Global Threat formed and the friction grew. RGT attacked and insulted Pumi and the wider SETUP roster. The battles have been drawn out, and they end on this night.

The stipulation is set. If Real Global Threat lose, Shivam is forced to leave SETUP. If Real Global Threat win, Pumi is forced to leave SETUP. Both sides have four men in the match, and eliminations decide it.

Shivam has three of his RGT allies with him: The Statement Andruew Tang, Emman Azman and Jake De Leon. Chris Brookes, the fifth member of the group, is not part of the match.

Pumi has gone outside SETUP to find the biggest and most dangerous opponents he can. His team is MYPW World Champion, SPW Singapore Champion and Varia Ukraine World Champion Carlo Cannon; VPW Openweight Champion Da Butcherman; New Japan Pro Wrestling Dojo recruit Ares; and Jonathan Johnson, a homegrown Thai wrestler who came up through Gatoh Move and then SETUP. Every one of them has history with Real Global Threat.

Pumi's team

Carlo Cannon has gone to war with Shivam, The Statement and Emman Azman over the years. He also helped mentor and train Azman into the wrestler he is today. He will want to tear the RGT founders apart. We should not forget Jake De Leon either, a man Cannon has never quite been able to pin down.

Da Butcherman blames The Statement for the loss of his Southeast Asia title. Had that been a one-on-one match, the result may have been different. His wars with all four members run deep and may never be forgiven.

Ares has not forgotten that Shivam came into his home promotion and took out his friends Big Bobby and Little Billy. He has not forgotten the Football Field Fight at VPW Saigon Slam Jam, and he has not forgotten losing to Shivam.

Jonathan Johnson was Real Global Threat's original target. RGT believed he was the "chosen one" of SETUP, and they made an example of him again and again. Shivam gave him some acknowledgement at the last Lab Experiment, but Johnson has not forgotten that four of the five members went after him first.

Real Global Threat

RGT have their own goals. They want to take over Southeast Asian wrestling and shape it into what they think it should be. Very little of this is personal to them. They have acknowledged their opponents as serious competition. The only genuinely personal rivalry is the one between Pumi and Shivam. RGT want the best opposition because they believe they are the best.

Shivam is the ace of Thai wrestling and, in our opinion, the most complete all-round wrestler in Southeast Asia. He is loud, abrasive and aggressive, with a dangerous technical Puroresu background underneath it.

The Statement Andruew Tang has the biggest record of anyone in this match and is close to legend status in the region. Like Pumi, without The Statement there would be no Southeast Asian wrestling scene as we know it. Tang has faced and beaten a long list of international names, including Rene Dupree, Pete Dunne, Yoshi Tatsu and Kuroshio TOKYO Japan.

Emman Azman is the young leader of the Malaysian scene. He has already travelled the world and worn titles across several countries, which is remarkable for a wrestler of his age.

Jake De Leon is, in our opinion, the best Filipino-born wrestler in history. He has been champion in every promotion in the Philippines he has worked for except World Underground Wrestling, and he is an expert tactician in the ring.

Can they get along?

Both teams say they are united. Cracks already exist on both sides.

On the RGT side, friction is building between Shivam and Jake De Leon's HY/OP, even though the two men have not confronted each other about it directly.

On Pumi's side, Carlo Cannon has had brutal wars with Da Butcherman, Ares and Jonathan Johnson over the years. Those matches will not have been forgotten, especially as Cannon holds more wins than losses against them.

The biggest talking point is what happened on 22 August at the Vietnam Pro Wrestling Rumble. Da Butcherman won the Sureshot contract and then used it straight away to take the title from Ares, becoming the first wrestler without a VPW contract to hold it. Ares may have New Japan on his mind, but he will not have forgotten how Butcherman treated him. Whether these two can work together for one night is the question that could decide the whole match.

Prediction: Too close to call. We are not going to pretend otherwise on a match with this much history behind it.

What to look out for

Under the Same Moon is a sold-out show at The Circus Studio on Saturday 29 August, and it is the biggest night SETUP has run in terms of long-term storyline payoff. Three championships are on the line, an international icon is in the building, and one of Shivam or Pumi will not be part of SETUP Thailand by the end of the night.
