Regional News Round-Up – 14 March 2026
Professional wrestling promotions across Southeast Asia continue to announce new events, title matches and international appearances for the coming months. Here is a look at the latest developments from Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Singapore
Minoru Suzuki Meet and Greet Set for Singapore
Singapore Pro Wrestling has announced that Japanese wrestling and MMA veteran Minoru Suzuki will appear at a special dinner event in Singapore on April 9.
The event will take place at OBBA BBQ on Amoy Street and will give fans the opportunity to meet Suzuki in a more informal setting ahead of his appearance at SPW King’s Landing. Attendees will have access to photo opportunities and autograph sessions during the evening.
Suzuki is one of the most recognisable figures in modern Japanese wrestling, having competed around the world across multiple promotions while also maintaining a career in mixed martial arts. Outside wrestling he has also appeared in several entertainment projects, including motion capture work for the character King in the Tekken video game series.
Tickets for the dinner are limited and are being handled directly by SPW. Fans attending the King’s Landing event will also receive a discount on food purchases during the meet-and-greet.
SPW Returns to Migrant Workers’ Centre Sports Carnival
Singapore Pro Wrestling will once again be part of the Migrant Workers’ Centre Sports Carnival on March 29, presenting a special edition of Smackdown at Soon Lee.
The event will feature three matches as part of the larger community programme. In the main event, Da Butcherman and Mighty Arrow are scheduled to face The Statement Andreuw Tang alongside Mason and Bryson Blade.
Elsewhere on the card, SPW Hardcore Champion Ryan Shen is set to compete in a triple threat match against Aiden Rex and Dr Gore. The Southeast Asia Tag Team Championships are also expected to be defended, with Jack ’N’ Cheese scheduled to face Emman and Mad Kat Karina if they remain champions following their upcoming title defence in Manila.
The show is part of the carnival’s activities for migrant workers and is not open to the public.
Five-Way Hardcore Title Match Announced for King’s Landing
Ryan Shen’s reign as SPW Hardcore Champion will face its biggest test yet at SPW King’s Landing on April 10.
The champion has been announced for a five-way match where he will defend the title against Mason, Tok Bomoh Mekong, MJ Riz and Hustler Ray. Multi-competitor matches have been a common feature of the Hardcore division, where the rules tend to favour chaotic brawls rather than conventional wrestling contests.
With four challengers in the ring at the same time, Shen will have to navigate a match where the champion does not necessarily have to be pinned to lose the title.
Malaysia
Wonderboy Added to MKW All-Star Wrestling Tour
Malaysia’s MKW All-Star Wrestling Tour has announced a late change to its international lineup.
Franco Varga will no longer appear on the tour due to travel complications connected to the ongoing situation in the Gulf region. In his place, the promotion has confirmed that Malaysian wrestler Wonderboy will join the tour roster.
Wonderboy has established himself as one of the more active Southeast Asian wrestlers in recent years through his appearances with MyPW and other regional promotions. For the tour he will team with Bold & Bad in the Champions vs. All-Stars match scheduled in Chongqing and will also compete in Chengdu against PSE.
The change ensures the tour continues with a Southeast Asian presence on the card.
Thailand
SETUP Announces Absolute Mayhem Event
SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling has confirmed that its next major event, Absolute Mayhem, will take place on May 2 as the promotion continues the storylines coming out of February’s Real Global Impact show.
One of the central developments revolves around Jonathan Johnson, who earned the right to challenge for the DEXCON World Championship after defeating Isaiah Valencia at the previous event. SETUP officials have confirmed that JDL, the current leader of HY/OP and reigning champion, will travel to Thailand for the show. However, JDL has not yet formally agreed to defend the championship on the event, leaving uncertainty about whether the match will actually take place.
The event will also feature the return of Southeast Asia Tag Team Champions Jack ’N’ Cheese, who have previously wrestled in Thailand. Their earlier appearances included a loss influenced by Anont Alonzo’s controversial tactics, as well as a match involving Jeney that drew attention for its unusual stipulations. Their return now comes with the team holding regional championship status.
Another ongoing storyline involves the arrival of Bad Company, the first tag team champions in Thai wrestling history and former Southeast Asia Tag Team Champions. Following an attack on Naga Nai and P’Suchart at the previous event, the team has declared their entry into SETUP with the stated aim of confronting former associates and anyone who stands in their way.
SETUP has begun rolling out announcements for the event’s participants, while early bird tickets are already close to selling out.
Matcha Set for Historic Appearance at Ryogoku Kokugikan
Thai wrestler Matcha is scheduled to make history on March 29 when she competes at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan, widely known as Sumo Hall.
The match will take place in a delayed battle royal format and will feature DDT Pro Wrestling’s Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship on the line. The stipulation allows eliminations by pinfall or submission, creating a more unpredictable structure compared with a traditional rumble match.
Matcha will share the ring with several well-known names from the Japanese scene including former Thai women’s wrestling champion Raku, current champion Rika Tatsumi and newcomer Momo Sato.
The appearance marks another example of Southeast Asian wrestlers gaining opportunities on major Japanese wrestling stages.
PSE Santo Slam Set for Bangkok
PSE will present Santo Slam at El Santo Bangkok later this month.
The event is scheduled for March 28 and will feature matches from the promotion’s roster alongside commentary from “Nating Hardcore.” Organisers are presenting the show as a combination of wrestling and nightlife entertainment, with DJ Anchan providing music throughout the evening.
Doors will open with the first match scheduled for 19:30 local time. The entry price includes a complimentary drink as part of the venue’s regular event format.
PSE Featured in Discover Pattaya Magazine
PSE has also received coverage in the latest issue of Discover Pattaya, with journalist Jason Rupp writing a feature on the promotion’s growth in the city.
The two-page article examines the rise of the company within Pattaya’s entertainment scene and includes comments from Sunny Z and Benji regarding the development of the promotion and its role in expanding professional wrestling in the area.
TOP Dojo Announces “Rise” Event
Thailand’s TOP Dojo has announced its first live event of 2026 titled Rise, scheduled for March 29.
The promotion has been dealing with the fallout from the recent Bad Company controversy, which organisers say has had wider implications across the Thai wrestling community. At the same time, the promotion is highlighting the emergence of younger wrestlers within its training system.
Among those featured are Prince Benny of Revolution Squad, returning after a hardcore match victory over Best Boonpa, along with newcomer Chayut who recently debuted for the group. Other performers highlighted include Kaiju KUMA and Jay Yuu, both of whom recorded victories during the recent Siam Fighter event.
According to TOP Dojo officials, the event represents a shift toward a new generation of Thai wrestlers establishing themselves in the local scene.
Philippines
New Wrestling Ring Being Built for WUW and Dexcon
World Underground Wrestling (WUW) and Dexcon have revealed plans for a new professional wrestling ring that will be constructed by Pound Sporting Goods.
Two design concepts have been shared publicly. One follows a traditional three-rope wrestling ring configuration, while the second uses chain ropes intended to create a more industrial visual style suited to WUW’s presentation.
Both concepts maintain a black-and-white colour scheme and are intended to serve as the primary ring for upcoming WUW and Dexcon events.
Pinay Wrestling Workshop Announced
To coincide with International Women’s Day, organisers in the Philippines have announced the 2026 Pinay Wrestling Workshop, aimed at introducing new participants to professional wrestling.
The workshop will be led by established Filipina wrestlers and is designed as an entry-level training opportunity for those interested in learning the fundamentals of the sport.
The initiative continues a broader push in recent years to increase the visibility of women’s wrestling within the Philippine scene.
FPW Confirms Two Upcoming Events
FPW President Red Ollero has confirmed two events scheduled for 2026.
The first, FPW Pagsubok sa QC, will take place on April 12 at the promotion’s Secret Base venue in Quezon City. The event will feature a Metro Manila Championship match between current champion Ralph Imabayashi and challenger Jan Evander following Evander’s victory at FPW Astig.
A second event described as a premium live show is scheduled for May 17, with further details expected to be announced closer to the date.
Puso Wrestling Championship Retained
Limited results have been released from Headlocks and Headbangs and Heartbreaks, the latest event promoted by Puso Wrestling.
The only officially confirmed outcome so far is that Jake De Leon successfully retained the Puso Wrestling Championship against Danny Zamora.
Additional match results have not yet been publicly confirmed by the promotion.
WrestleStorm 3 Set for This Weekend
Dexcon’s WrestleStorm 3 takes place on March 15 with several notable matches already announced.
Among the international appearances, MMA veteran Shinya Aoki will step into a Manila wrestling ring to face Fabio Makisig, marking Aoki’s first wrestling match in the Philippines.
Another international matchup will see GLEAT wrestler Junjie face Robin Sane in a bout featuring two younger talents from the regional scene.
The card will also include the DXCN World Championship match between Jake De Leon and Kuroshio Tokyo Japan, formerly known as Ikemen Jiro. The two previously shared the ring during WWE tryouts in China.
Elsewhere, Alexis Lee will defend the CWE Vixen’s Championship in a triple threat match against Super P and Chelsea Marie, while Yoshi Tatsu returns to Manila to face Jomar.
Vietnam
VPW Spring Bash Set for Ho Chi Minh City
Vietnam Pro Wrestling will present Spring Bash this Saturday in Ho Chi Minh City.
The event continues VPW’s regular live schedule and is expected to feature several of the promotion’s core roster members as the company builds momentum into the middle of the year.
