Sneak Peek at VPW’s New Outdoor Venue – A Permanent Change?

Vietnam Pro Wrestling are gearing up for their next show, Saigon Slam Jam, which will be their first major outdoor event. Being held at Fox Field, the show is a distance away from their usual home on the other side of Ho Chi Minh City in District 7.

The venue offers fans in other areas of the packed metropolis a chance to easily view the action while, thanks to the partnership with Sports Jam, the show has been given somewhat of a “WrestleMania” feel.

Rumors are also abound in non-wrestling circles that the site of VAIB Studios may be under threat by development. This info has not come from VPW sources, however, and any closure of the famous film studio site should be taken with a pinch of green mist.

Paradise Sports Entertainment Returns Home

Sarah Coldheart Featured in 40 Under 40

Singapore’s Prestige Magazine featured Grapplemax’s Sarah Coldheart. The 40 Under 40 article showcases exceptional women in the country, sharing their story. The article wrote:

“Sarah Coldheart (@sarahcoldheart) – real name Maisarah Abu Samah – is best known for tearing up Singapore’s professional wrestling scene as its first hijabi performer. When she’s on the mats, she’s a mean pirate queen – unapologetic, bold and always ready to throw down.”

Just remember who gave you a cover first, Sarah!

VPW Takes Center Stage at Pizza Fest and Flying Felix Debuts

Over the weekend, VPW travelled to the far reaches of Ho Chi Minh City for Pizza Fest.

At the two-day event, they first presented on Day 1: The British Horror vs Ronnie El Rapido, Vortex Rebellion vs The Classic Night, Ares vs Khoa Truong. Then on Day 2 they presented KPY vs Flying Felix, Hy Draco vs Damien, and The British Horror vs Billy.

The show then ended with a press conference for the main event of Saigon Slam Jam, which ended in an all-out brawl between The Rocky Horror Show, Ares, and Hy Draco.

As noted, the event saw the debut match for VPW Academy standout Flying Felix. Fans should likely expect him to continue development on smaller shows before possibly making a main show debut at The Rumble in the summer.

Devin Zemir Australia Tour

Over the past week, one half of Grapplemax Tag Team Champions, Devin Zemir, has been touring in Australia as part of EPW Super Camp, which included tutelage under Deminen Slater and a return to Phat Brew Club, where he lost in a title match to Pride Champion Faizal Ali, as well as appearing in the rumble like last year.

Kidd Bandit Retires

As mentioned in our Vegas roundup, Filipino wrestler Kidd Bandit (who spent her career in the USA) has retired to focus on promoting LGBT wrestling events. We wish her well and thank her for her match in DEXCON last year.

Penny Haze Injured

Penny Haze confirmed she had suffered a broken arm at Pagsubok a few weeks ago and will miss a few months of action. This is a blow to the Pinay wrestling scene, which is heating up right now, but we wish her a speedy recovery.

Currently on a world tour, Alexis Lee will be hitting the mean streets of London for Fist Club Strictly Ballroom on May 3rd. She is already scheduled to wrestle in France this weekend before she heads to Korea for a huge tag match with Yeni against Super P and Maki Itoh.
