SEA Wrestling - Match of the Week: Ares Vs Da Butcherman - Must Watch Awarded
Here at SEA Wrestling we don’t like to hand out rudimentary stars but we are compiling a list of what we think is the absolute best in Southeast Asia wrestling matches. That’s why we’ve provided our second MUST WATCH Award to Vietnam Pro Wrestling’s Ares Vs Da Butcherman from Brawl Hallow’s Eve 2025.
Here’s what we wrote back in Issue 6 of SEA Wrestling
Finally, the main event, the one everyone had been waiting for since Da Butcherman’s last appearance. After a tense stare-down, both men traded shoulder barges before reintroducing the chairs from earlier in the night. What followed was a heavy-hitting brawl that spilled into the crowd, sending plastic chairs flying as the two giants went wild.
Then, things got… fruity. A pineapple became the weapon of choice, followed by chairs and anything else within reach. Back in the ring, Butcher launched himself off the top rope — chair in hand — to clatter the champion. Ares fired back, countering a suplex attempt onto an open chair with an Olympic Slam that drew a thunderous “ooooh” from the crowd.
Both men exchanged punishing strikes and suplexes until Butcher, in a twisted show of respect, handed Ares a steel chair so they could batter each other equally “romantically violent,” as it were. Ares countered one final swing into an F5, but it only earned a two-count.
Sensing more destruction was needed, Ares and Phong Nam introduced a wooden board and Thor’s hammer, while Butcher somehow produced a watermelon, smashing it across Ares’ face before hitting a huge vertical suplex through the board. Somehow, Ares kicked out at two. The fans were on edge, could Butcher actually win?
The tension broke when Miles Karu appeared, durian in hand, drawing loud boos. Before it could be used, Phong Nam speared Karu out of the ring, and the two brawled backstage. The durian rolled back into the ring as both men fought over it, eventually evening the odds. Butcher then placed a wooden board over Ares and went coast-to-coast, dropkicking it into the champion’s face for a razor-close near-fall. The crowd erupted in disbelief. Moments later, Ares reversed a suplex off the top rope into a powerbomb through another table, followed by a thunderous spear for the three-count.
After the bell, the two titans of Southeast Asia shared a moment of mutual respect before Ares stood tall in victory. From an in-ring standpoint, the match lived up to its billing — two giants colliding in a wild, creative, and surprisingly emotional war. The addition of fruit (and Miles Karu) only added to the chaos. Fans genuinely feared Ares’ reign, one they want to last forever might end. And honestly, it could have. With Vietnamania around the corner, a rematch would’ve sold itself. Thankfully, as a proud Ares fan, that didn’t happen.
Remember to give each match a watch.
Keep your eyes peeled for next week’s match of the week.
