Real Global Threat: A History

After almost 18 months together, Real Global Threat face their biggest challenge as a group at SETUP Under the Same Moon (August 29th, Circus Studio, Bangkok) where IWA Japan World Champion Shivam puts his SETUP career on the line against the future of founder Pumi Boonyatud in an eight man all-star encounter.

SEA Wrestling thought this would be a good opportunity to look back at the key moments in one of the most engaging storylines in Southeast Asian pro wrestling, and a storyline that has, in its own strange way, brought the region closer together.

SETUP Doublecross, 22 March 2025: Where it all began

At the end of Doublecross two men stood tall against the entirety of not just SETUP Thailand but Southeast Asian wrestling as a whole. Singapore's founding modern wrestler Andruew Tang and Shivam introduced their new alliance as Real Global Threat and promised to take over the region.

MYPW New Breed 3, 10 May 2025: The first recruitment attempt

RGT reassembled in Kuala Lumpur next, where the duo were paired against Emman Azman and Shaheen in a four-way match for Shivam's MYPW Southeast Asia Championship. Following the match they made an offer to MYPW's MVP, the young Emman Azman, to join the group as the Malaysian representative, but before they could sway him The Juicy Boyz ran in to end the heated moment.

SPW Mayhem, 30 May 2025: Azman turns

Just 20 days later Azman looked to take revenge in Singapore against the pair, teaming with the legendary Ho Ho Lun, and the two were unsuccessful. Frustrated with his mixed record since returning to Southeast Asia, Azman then took out his own partner and became the third member of RGT, just in time for their much anticipated six man tag match.

SETUP Fallen Kingdom, 31 May 2025: Jake De Leon completes the four

The trio became a foursome only 24 hours later in the most anticipated moment since the group's formation. In a six man tag that pitted The Statement, Shivam and Azman against SETUP ace Jonathan Johnson, Jake De Leon and New Japan's Zack Sabre Jr, JDL shocked the world when he hit Johnson with a superkick and secured the victory for Real Global Threat, becoming the fourth member. While this was a shocking moment, it was also the final time we would see all four men in the same ring as RGT, as they split up to conquer Southeast Asian wrestling separately.

SETUP Under Pressure, 26 July 2025: Chris Brookes joins

At the end of Under Pressure, Johnson stood tall after defending his new IWA Japan World Championship against The Statement and Chris Brookes. Brookes then shocked the world by laying in a brutal assault during the show closing promo on Johnson, the SETUP roster and even Pumi Boonyatud himself. He was now the fifth member of Real Global Threat.

SETUP Paranoid, 27 September 2025: World tag champions, and a return

The night began somewhat hopelessly as new tag champions LOVE X FRDM lost the titles they had only just won to Emman Azman and Shivam after mere minutes of a beatdown.

Just as the group looked unbeatable, a new hope emerged when Monomoth made his return and immediately challenged and defeated The Statement to become SETUP Openweight Champion, ending the night not on the usual threats and blood that Real Global Threat offered, but with something closer to hope for the future.

SETUP A Hard Day's Night, 29 November 2025: Shivam becomes world champion

Shivam became a double singles champion by beating IWA Japan World Champion Jonathan Johnson and Carlo Cannon in what this writer still considers one of the best matches of 2025.

SETUP Episode 26, Real Global Impact, 21 February 2026: The assault on Pumi

Following an epic encounter between RGT brethren Shivam and Chris Brookes, the pair assaulted SETUP owner Pumi Boonyatud in a heinous attack that left the SETUP roster and the fans shocked and appalled.

VPW Spring Bash, 14 March 2026: RGT invades Vietnam

Out of nowhere, after a major tag team match at Vietnam Pro Wrestling Spring Bash, Shivam rushed the ring and attacked The Classic Night before giving a scathing promo about how VPW had ignored him for so long. He then challenged them to a six man tag match at the next show.

MYPW New Breed 4, 4 April 2026: Miles Karu topples Shivam

Miles Karu dealt another huge dent to the group's morale at New Breed 4 by defeating Shivam and ending his 616 day reign as champion. Despite the loss, it was undeniable that Shivam had made this one of the most prestigious regional titles.

SPW King's Landing, 10 April 2026: Tag champions again and the birth of The Lab

The Statement and Azman took the SPW Tag Titles in a multi man match against Mighty Arrow and Jack N' Cheese to add more gold to the RGT collection.

Around the same time Shivam brought The Lab to life, an experiment that gathered the best wrestlers in Thailand and beyond in an intimate setting to battle it out and test their might in a way the region had not really seen before.

VPW Saigon Slam Jam, 9 May 2026: The Football Field Fight

Returning to Vietnam for Saigon Slam Jam, the full RGT contingent of Shivam, The Statement and Jake De Leon laid waste to The Classic Night and Meteor Kid in a brutal Football Field Fight that saw fans, vendors, neighbours and even The Rock look on. Leaving victorious, this was a triumphant night for Real Global Threat.

DEXCON Dakila II, 24 May 2026, and SETUP Episode 28, Hellraiser, 27 June 2026: Cracks appear

After the brutal battle between DEXCON World Champion Jake De Leon and Chris Brookes, noticeable frustration was on the face of De Leon as his RGT partner showed more concern for Brookes than for the champion (in our opinion). That may have been just a look, a glance or a trick of the camera, but what was undeniable was the disdain in Shivam's voice later on when De Leon requested a title shot for his HY/OP partner Nigel San Jose. Formed in November of the previous year, JDL's own group has clearly split his focus in the eyes of Shivam, and he has since made no secret of his dislike for San Jose and Valencia, using a public expletive when talking about HY/OP. It remains to be seen where De Leon's allegiances lie as we head into Under The Same Moon.

SETUP Under The Same Moon, 29 August 2026: What is at stake

Now everything comes to a head as four men the group have battled come together to face them for the chance to deal a crippling blow. Should Carlo Cannon, Ares, Jonathan Johnson and Da Butcherman defeat Real Global Threat, Shivam will leave SETUP and become something of a Southeast Asian wrestling nomad. However, should RGT win, then Pumi will leave and the future of Thai wrestling is in doubt.

Under The Same Moon takes place on 29 August. SEA Wrestling will have a full preview in the days before the show, a complete report afterwards, and continued coverage of the RGT story on the site and in the next issue of the magazine.
