PUSO WRESTLING LIVESTREAM XIII
Hakai Mateo & Ken Cifer vs Solomon & Serafin Liwanag
We’re starting off with a fairly unusual combination on one side here — but then that’s nothing new in Puso.
Serafin and Cifer start things off, but it doesn’t take long before the tag is made to Mateo, who continues to grow into quite the powerhouse. Solomon comes in and is quickly beaten down, eating a double suplex for his efforts. The Otaku Crusader seems noticeably calmer here.
The Liwanags regroup and deliver some formidable double teaming on Ken Cifer. Serafin shows off some deadly kicks and looks genuinely elated to be back in the ring after what’s been a long spell out of the spotlight. They continue to dominate Cifer and cut off the tag.
Solomon and Mateo eventually get the hot tags, and Mateo plants the masked man with a big body slam — not once, but twice. However, an argument with the referee allows Serafin to slip in and land a well-targeted head kick for the three count. A much-needed win. He tells the camera he promises big things before the segment ends.
A strong spotlight for Serafin Liwanag, and a one-on-one with Ken Cifer would be worth a place on a main Puso card in my opinion.
We return to the ring to the terrifying sight of the Pig, the Lion, and Chelsea Marie (a lot less terrifying), who offer to “Wild Out” with Hy/Op — but they aren’t having it.
Super P, Robin Sane & Enzo vs Chelsea Marie, Nigel San Jose & Isaiah Valencia
The Fast Break opponents are out first, but Marie immediately tags out rather than face Super P. Nigel debuts wonderful new gear and fabulous new hair for the year.
The opening pair trade holds, and it’s surprising to see what looks like a moment of sympathy from Nigel toward Super P — but Chelsea quickly puts a stop to that by stamping on P’s knee. Sane comes in and brings young Enzo along for some flying offense.
Chelsea takes control of the trainee and refuses to allow Valencia in. He eventually grows frustrated and forces his own tag, punishing Enzo for even daring to be in there. Those elbows from Valencia are vicious — I hope Jonathan Johnson is watching ahead of their match in a few weeks in Bangkok.
Hy/Op’s double-team kicks only get a two on the plucky Enzo, who manages a comeback and lands a brutal dropkick on Valencia. Chelsea and P brawl outside, leaving Valencia and Sane in the ring. Isaiah hits a DDT, but Sane tags Enzo back in.
A chaotic free-for-all breaks out with everyone vying for the win. Out of nowhere, we’re left with Enzo and Valencia — until Jake De Leon enters, hits a flying Rooster Kick, and Valencia follows with a spear for the victory.
An excellent match. Hy/Op look deadly as a trio, and Chelsea once again reminds everyone where her allegiance lies ahead of her match against our favourite superhero.
SETUP 24/7 Championship Jake De Leon vs Joya
Joya is taking this seriously — she’s come out in her ‘A’ gear. De Leon, by contrast, doesn’t seem overly concerned at first, but Joya’s aggression and stiff punches quickly get his attention.
JDL eventually lures her into a Rooster Kick and follows with a scoop slam, but it takes three attempts to keep her down. He slows the pace with a sleeper hold, wearing Joya down before hitting the Rooster Peck and some stomps. The Rolling Thunderbird misses… again — but Joya’s comeback is cut short by the larger champion.
A hurricanrana gives Joya an opening, and she connects with a meteora for a very close two. She transitions into an armbar, but the experienced JDL wisely uses the ropes to break. A cutter attempt is countered into another sleeper and then Rooster Wings — somehow only two, much to JDL’s shock.
A second cutter lands, but Hy/Op are back at ringside to place JDL’s foot on the rope. Joya fends them off, but as she re-enters the ring she’s caught with an Emerald Flowsion, giving De Leon the win and allowing him to retain.
De Leon talks trash toward Brian Kendrick and reminds everyone that Fast Break is next week.
That was a great match — perhaps too good for a closed-door livestream show. Joya is such a talent, and like all the Pinay women on the roster, they really need a belt to fight for.
Putting kayfabe aside for a moment, Puso is genuinely hitting its stride storyline-wise right now.
