MYPW New Breed 3 Review – A Statement Return for Malaysia Pro Wrestling

After a long absence from the scene, Malaysian Pro Wrestling (MYPW) made its explosive return on May 12 with New Breed 3, a show that reminded Southeast Asia why MYPW remains one of the region’s most compelling promotions. Held at one of the most aesthetic venues in the region (The KuAsh Theatre, Kuala lumpur), the show featured high-stakes tournament action, international talent, surprise changes, and a main event that brought together four of Asia’s top wrestlers.

While last-minute card changes saw Shaheen added to the SEA Title match due to Carlo Cannon's absence, the resulting shake-up only added to the unpredictability and energy of the night.

Journey to Gold Semi-Final: Orion Black vs Thommy Ardhi

The show kicked off with a succinct yet effective clash of styles. Thommy Ardhi, the tenacious technician, found himself dwarfed by the size and power of Orion Black. But what Ardhi lacked in stature, he made up for in strategy, using slick counters and submission attempts to evade Black’s big-man offense. The finish came when Ardhi reversed a choke attempt and nailed the Bloody Stone running knee for the win. It didn’t try to overdeliver—just a smart, crowd-pleasing opener that set the tone.

Kaizul vs Blazing Raj

An emotionally layered match followed as Blazing Raj insisted his ally Cornelius Low stay backstage, earning sympathy from the crowd. Raj tried to prove he could go it alone against the seasoned and sadistic Kaizul. The match had a slower, methodical pace—Kaizul’s torturous holds, especially a grotesque finger stretch, showed off his technical cruelty. Raj showed flashes of strength with a Samoan Drop, but it was a V-Trigger that left him draped on the ropes, opening the door for Kaizul to snatch the win. A psychologically interesting bout that highlighted Raj’s growing heart and Kaizul’s twisted mastery.

Poppy Shae vs Lana XO

A welcome international flavor arrived with Australia’s Lana XO returning to Malaysia to face rising star Poppy Shae. This was a clear power vs speed battle, with Lana dominating through suplexes and strikes while hurling body-shaming insults that only intensified the crowd's support for Poppy. Lana's arrogance cost her—too much fan-baiting let Poppy rally with crisp strikes and roll-ups, ultimately scoring a surprise pinfall after countering a power move. A solid, story-driven match that built both women and showed there’s still plenty left for this rivalry.

The Rumble Match

Chaos reigned as ten competitors battled in MYPW’s Rumble-style match, which avoided the usual pitfalls of overlong rumbles by keeping it tight and focused. Rory Holms and Guken started the match with tension already bubbling. Jack Alexander’s return got the pop of the night, including a memorable 30-second German Suplex hold from Holms. Cornelius Low brought villainy, debutant Edward Tan and Singhaga brought unpredictability, and Orion Black returned for a second shift. The finish saw Jack chug the secret sauce and eliminate both Holms and Black with synchronized dropkicks—an exciting end that felt earned. A really fun break in the card with a crowd-pleasing winner.

Journey to Gold Finals: Thommy Ardhi vs Kaizul

The finals gave us a different flavor—more personal, more competitive. Kaizul dialed up his menace even further, working over Ardhi’s neck and playing mind games. The two wore each other down in a war of attrition. Kaizul’s submissions nearly sealed it, but Ardhi kept fighting until he missed a frog splash, opening the door for Kaizul to lock in a brutal modified sharpshooter for the tap. The post-match reveal that the contract includes a “cash-in anytime” clause made Kaizul’s victory all the more intriguing. A standout match of the night.

Juicy Boyz vs Love x FRDM

Two beloved tag teams collided in a high-energy match that delivered both comedy and skill. Love x FRDM’s flamingo-themed entrance and in-ring charisma won over the crowd, while the Juicy Boyz—still exuding veteran confidence—played subtle heels to great effect. Wonderboy and Fienic Rose dazzled with aerial moves, while Karu and Syawal added muscle and physicality. Despite a valiant effort from the challengers, the Juicy Special secured the win. The Malaysian fans' mixed reaction to the Juicy Boyz made things even more interesting. A smartly structured match that elevated everyone involved and made Love x FRDM look ready for the next step.

SEA Title Match: Shivam vs Emman Azman vs The Statement vs Shaheen

This was a main event that delivered. With four of Asia’s top talents in one ring, the match balanced chaos with character-driven storytelling. Shivam and The Statement leaned into their Real Global Threat partnership, only for it to fray in the heat of competition. Shaheen brought the big dives and babyface fire, while Emman Azman—ever the underdog—nearly stole it multiple times. False finishes came thick and fast, including a moonsault by Shaheen and an incredible Tower of Doom. In the end, a sucker-punch from Tang to Shaheen opened the door for Shivam to hit his signature suplex and retain the title. A fantastic four-way that showcased the depth of the region’s top-tier talent. The post-match drama, with Emman rejecting an RGT invitation and the Juicy Boyz stepping in, hints at intriguing matchups to come.

To recap the ongoing Real Global Threat saga that is continuing to unfold.

  • Emman joined RGT about two weeks later after failing to defeat Shivam and The Statement in Singapore.

  • The next night Jake De Leon signaled he was picked up his membership card by kicking Jonathan Johnson in the head at SETUP Thailand: Fallen Kingdom.

  • JDL has since started dominating opponents in the Philippines with his new SETUP 24/7 Title.

  • Shivam & The Statement brought some brutality to Vietnam at Asia Pro Wrestling Summit.

  • Shivam and Azman will be in action this weekend against Love X FRDM.

MYPW New Breed 3 wasn’t just a return—it was a reminder of what Malaysian Pro Wrestling can be at its best. From rising stars like Thommy Ardhi and Poppy Shae to international main-eventers and sharp production, this card had the right mix of entertainment, storytelling, and surprises. The crowd was lively, the talent brought it, and the final matches showed how tight and compelling MYPW's in-ring product has become.
