MYPW Fightback 2024: Show Report

A little late but it's the first time I've had to watch MYPW Fightback from August. If you want to watch the show, you can find it on YouTube. Here we go.

Orian Black vs. Syawal (Journey to Gold Quarter-Final)

Orian Black, masked only during his entrance, looked intense as he made his way to the ring. Syawal, known as the "Love Warrior," danced his way down, immediately engaging the crowd. The fans chanted, "We want hugs," as the match began with a playful energy. However, the action quickly turned serious.

Early on, Orian Black attempted headbutts to assert dominance, but Syawal turned the tide with a whip into the ropes, leading to a hip toss and a sidewalk slam for a near fall. Orian regained control by using underhanded tactics, including utilizing a camera as a weapon. Despite this, Syawal powered back with a shoulder block, only to be cut off by a snap suplex from Orian.

The match became a hard-hitting back-and-forth. Syawal landed a uranage, and both men exchanged strikes. Syawal nailed a thunderous clothesline, bringing the crowd to their feet. As Orian appeared to tweak his knee, the referee checked on him in the corner. It was a ruse—Orian delivered a vicious kick to the back of Syawal's head, followed by the devastating "Reaper's Residence" for the victory.

Orian Black, though undeniably talented, has potential to refine his physique further to cement his presence as a top contender.

John Day vs. Guken

John Day, dancing like Alex Wright to an upbeat tune, marked his return after a five-year absence. Guken, draped in a Cody Rhodes-esque coat, entered to Green Day's music, adding a unique flair. The crowd was eager as both men locked up.

John Day initially displayed impressive British-style techniques, including a series of roll-ups, tie-ups, and wrist locks. Guken countered with aggression, tying Day up in the corner. An inventive upside-down counter from Day pushed Guken away, but Guken's frustrations mounted as he relied on punches and a neckbreaker to gain control.

The crowd turned against Guken, chanting, "Guken sucks." Day responded with body shots and a German suplex attempt that showcased his strength, though Guken stayed in the fight. Guken's spear sealed the win after a grueling contest.

2-on-1 Handicap Match: Cornealias Low & Blazing "Raj" vs. Zhan Wen

Cornealias Low introduced the team with flair, while Zhan Wen entered as the "One-Man Dynasty," exuding menace. Low and Raj stalled initially, clearly intimidated. Wen asserted dominance, delivering a double clothesline and manhandling Raj. Low, despite attempting evasive tactics, fell victim to Wen’s massive chops.

The tag team used double-teaming strategies, including Raj as a stepping stone, but Wen overpowered them. After a Samoan drop, the pair argued over who should pin, giving Wen an opening to deliver a Northern Lights bomb and a second-rope suplex. A Northern Lights driver ended the match emphatically.

Post-match, Wen demanded bigger challenges, issuing an ultimatum for a title shot.

Jack Alexander vs. Kaizul (Journey to Gold Quarter-Final)

The technical opening showcased Kaizul’s control as he sought an early pinfall. Alexander countered with innovative moves, including an off-the-rope toss and a fake-out dive. Kaizul tripped him outside, capitalizing with brutal chops against the apron.

Kaizul targeted Alexander’s knee, using devastating kicks and locking in a dragon sleeper. Despite Alexander’s resilience, Kaizul maintained dominance with submission holds, including a one-leg Boston crab. Alexander fought back, stunning Kaizul with a Canadian destroyer. Both men struggled to recover, trading positions until Kaizul hit a superkick and locked in the "Painful Reminder" for a submission victory.

Saigon Hunters w/ XPat vs. The Juicy Boyz

The Saigon Hunters (Sid and Rocky) were led by XPat, who mocked the crowd, claiming superiority. The Juicy Boyz responded with a parody song that electrified the audience. Early chaos saw double dropkicks from the Juicy Boyz. The Hunters used classic heel tactics, isolating Miles Karu with arm locks and double-teaming.

The turning point came when Karu dodged a double kick, tagging in WB, who unleashed springboard moonsaults. The Juicy Boyz executed their "Juicy Special" for the win, despite XPat’s interference attempts.

Post-match, a chilling message from "The Horrors" declared their intent to target the Juicy Boyz.

CWE Vixens Championship: Alexis Lee (c) vs. Poppy

Both women’s contrasting styles were evident—Lee’s aggressive energy clashed with Poppy’s diva persona. The match opened with back-and-forth chops, followed by a Samoan drop from Lee for a near fall. Poppy gained an advantage with a second-rope codebreaker but couldn’t secure the victory.

Lee countered Poppy’s aerial attempts with a spear, retaining her title. Both women shone as top-tier competitors in Southeast Asia.

Renegades of Wrestling Title: Emman Azman (c) vs. Aiden Rex vs. Tommy Arhdi

Azman targeted Rex early, delivering a series of chops and suplexes. The match’s frenetic pace saw all three competitors exchange strikes and high-impact moves. Highlights included Arhdi’s top-rope dive and Azman’s springboard dropkick off Arhdi’s back.

In a dramatic sequence, Arhdi’s 450 splash and Azman’s falcon arrow nearly ended the match. Ultimately, Azman’s flying elbow secured his title defense.

MYPW World Championship: Carlo Cannon (c) vs. Shivam

The main event began with Shivam overwhelming Cannon with strikes, but Cannon’s belly-to-belly suplexes showcased his strength. The action spilled into the crowd, where Shivam used dirty tactics, including an eye rake.

Back in the ring, Cannon hit a fisherman’s buster and a release German suplex but couldn’t secure the pin. Shivam responded with a pop-up powerbomb and running uppercut. Cannon’s top-rope belly-to-belly suplex set up his piledriver finisher for the win.

Post-match, Shivam attacked Cannon, but Zhan Wen made the save, holding both the MYPW and SEA titles, teasing his future intentions.
