MLW World Middleweight Championship to be defended at FPW Astig
Announced yesterday through a press release by FPW promoter, the Filipino Pro Wrestling Champion Quatro will not only be putting his championship on the line against New Japan’s Kushida but also receiving a championship opportunity for the Major League Wrestling World Middleweight Championship.
Kushida beat Templario on January 29th in Kissimmee Florida at this year's Battle Riot show to win the title. After some negotiation the championship match against Quatro has now been changed to a double championship opportunity.
The match is not the first time recently that a MLW championship has been defended in Southeast Asia as Shoko Nakajima defended the Women’s Featherweight Championship in December against Alexis Lee at TJPW in Bangkok. This could therefore signal a more exciting partnership between one of the United States top independent promotions and Southeast Asia.
The match now also has a bigger question mark over it as Kushida would not be the first New Japan wrestler to win an FPW Championship as Jeff Cobb - Now known as JC Mateo in WWE held the championship in 2024, even wearing it to the ring at his last Wrestlekingdom appearance.
The card now stands for next Sunday as
Quatro Vs Kushida in an FPW Title Vs MLW World Middleweight Title match
Joshua Ellevistah Vs Jan Evander
Mike Madrigal Vs Kid Kwago
Also in action
Kimmy Larue
Penny Haze
Roxxy Reeves
Robynn
Rio Ruffino
