May-n Event Madness - Huge Matches Events Across Asia This May

It looks like May is going to be an absolute heat wave of a month in pro wrestling for Southeast Asia as more and more sizzling matchups are getting announced by promotions far and wide at such an alarming rate, SEA Wrestling’s servers are close to an absolute meltdown.

Here’s what’s been announced to headline upcoming shows....

The biggest women’s match in Vietnam's history

Since Saigon Slam 2024, just over 11 months ago, Yuki Kamifuku has been the first and only VPW Women’s champion. In this time she has made global defences of the title in Japan and the Philippines while also parading the belt in Singapore, China and the United States of America.

However she has yet to sign for a return match up in Vietnam itself. Now VPW matchmakers have been in contact with Kamifuku’s home promotion of TJPW and signed her up for a match against what could be her toughest opponent yet in proud Vietnamese representative, VPW hall of famer and contracted AEW superstar Viva Van.

On May 3rd Viva Van will head to Japan and attempt to reclaim the Women’s title for her people. With this being the 50th reunification weekend we are sure all wrestling fans in Vietnam will be rooting for her to bring the title home.

As well as the crossover tag team main event of Zack Sabre Jr & Jake De Leon taking on El Phantasmo & Fabio Makisig a number of other huge matches have been announced.

Another enormous international bout has been announced as Main Maxx has his most challenging title defence yet for the Puso Pinoy Championship when he has to defend the title in a triple threat match against Lyrical Lightning, current SPW Tag Team Champion, Miles Karu from Malaysia and current MYPW Southeast Asian Champion from Thailand, the vicious Real Global Threat member Shivam.

Underground ace will take on underground ace when St John Martin takes on Robin Sane

Nigel San Jose will take on Emman Azman as previously announced.

Shivam defends against friend and foe.

As well as the already announced main event of World Champion Carlo Cannon defending against Wrestlefest DXB founder Shaheen, another huge main event battle is on the card.

Shivam will get a taste of his own triple threat defence one week before Dakila when he defends against Emman Azman and Andreuw Tang.

While this match on paper looks like it could be an opportunity for Tang and Azman to earn gold. It is more than likely a sign that a major player behind MYPW, their current world champion, is truly in kahoots with the RGT.

SEA Wrestling speculates that as a thankyou to The Statement for offering up Da Butcherman on a platter, he is giving RGT an opportunity to dismantle one of their opponents in the runup to Mayhem at the end of the month. However, not exactly being known for selflessness, can Shivam and The Statement co-exist when there is gold on the line?

Singapore Pro Wrestling - Mayhem triple main event

As reported on during the week, in addition to the huge main event between Carlo Cannon and SPW SEA Champion Da Butcherman for the latter’s title only. The show will see a number of other huge main event contests.

Last Shot Queen of Asia Championship Match - Arguably just as big as Viva Van’s title shot is Kamifuku’s defence against Alexis Lee for her other title the SPW Queen of Asia strap. This will be Lee’s last shot at the title and if she is unsuccessful, last match ever. She has confirmed recently online that this is not hyperbole, she has no bookings following Mayhem and should she lose, she will no longer be a professional wrestler.

The Statement & Shivam Vs Emman Azman & Ho Ho Lun

In the third of the triple threat of main events, former NXT superstar Ho Ho Lun will team up with the Southeast Asian pro wrestling prodigy known as Emman Azman to take on Real Global Threat (Andreuw Tang & Shivam). Can Emman Azman keep his momentum going after returning from Australia and derail the dastardly duo before their Southeast Asian wrestling takeover goes too far?

In addition, former IWGP World Champion, Zack Sabre Jr will be in attendance.

Ring of Rebirth - Monumentous Tag Team Match

Not actually May but following on from the main event of Experience 4 when Mr Geylang Raj managed to overcome BGJ. Matchmakers have decided to give the big man another shot at Raj but this time in a tag team match. Raj will tag with the masked Geylang Green against Jack ‘N’ Cheese as BGJ brings his partner the Cheese Burger Kid back to ROR to deal with The Syndicate once and for all.
