Matcha Set to Wrestle for TJPW Again This May
Former SETUP Women's Champion Matcha is set to return to Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling (TJPW) this May for two matches, marking another step toward her goal of wrestling full-time in Japan.
Since losing the SETUP Women's Championship to Pom Harajuku, Matcha has remained a key figure in the growing relationship between SETUP and TJPW. Her title loss led to the championship being defended at Grand Princess '25, where Raku of Up Up Girls Kakko Pro Wrestling became the new champion.
Matcha's rise in TJPW gained momentum following her standout match with Pom Harajuku at Battle of Chaophraya Voyage in Bangkok last September, which was ranked 14th in the Best Bout 24 list. Pom has since advanced to the finals of the Futari Max Heart 2025 Tag Team Tournament, while fans continue to praise Matcha’s wrestling ability, particularly her German and Saito Suplexes.
On this upcoming tour, Matcha will compete in two matches—on May 3 in Saitama and May 5 in Osaka, marking her first matches outside Tokyo in Japan. She will be joined by Alexis Lee from Singapore, another standout from the Southeast Asian wrestling scene.
Additionally, SETUP’s Pumi, who recently joined TJPW as an English lecturer, has hinted at an upcoming major announcement regarding future plans. With Matcha’s growing presence in TJPW and potential new developments on the horizon, this could be a significant turning point for both her and SETUP’s expansion into Japan.
Stay tuned for more updates on this evolving story! We wish her the best of luck with her matches in the land of the rising sun.
