Matcha Makes History: Thai Wrestling Star Set for TJPW Grand Princess ’26 in Tokyo
Thai wrestling standout Matcha is poised to make history yet again as she has been officially confirmed for Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling’s (TJPW) Grand Princess ’26 on March 29, 2026 at Ryogoku Kokugikan (Sumo Hall). This appearance marks her as the first wrestler from Southeast Asia to compete on one of Japan’s most iconic wrestling stages, elevating her status as a regional pioneer and strengthening the growing ties between SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling and TJPW.
Matcha’s journey in Japan has been building steadily over the past year. She previously competed in TJPW’s Golden Week shows in 2025, where her most notable outing featured a tag team match alongside Alexis Lee challenging for the Princess Tag Team Championship, showcasing both competitors as emerging international threats on the joshi scene. Her work during Golden Week drew attention from fans and peers alike, proving her adaptable in both tag and singles formats against top Japanese talent.
In December 2025, Matcha returned to Japan’s spotlight as one of the featured competitors when TJPW held its first-ever show in Thailand in Bangkok. There, she challenged Miu Watanabe, the reigning Princess of Princess Champion, in the event’s main event for the promotion’s top title. While she ultimately came up short, going the distance in a competitive 17-minute bout, the match was widely praised and further cemented her as a legitimate contender on the international stage.
At home, Matcha has also been a dominant force. She holds the SETUP All Asia Women’s Championship, positioning her as one of the most decorated female wrestlers in Southeast Asia. Her presence was also key to bringing TJPW to Bangkok last year, helping expand joshi exposure in the region.
The announcement of her participation in Grand Princess ’26 is a significant milestone — not just for Matcha personally, but for the broader Southeast Asian wrestling community. Fans can look forward to additional match details and announcements as TJPW builds toward its March show.
