Huge Winner Takes All Title Match - SETUP Thailand - SPW-MYPW
A huge match was revealed this week for SETUP/IWA Japan’s Whiplash event on the 28th of June that will completely reshape Southeast Asian Pro Wrestling.
SPW promoter and Real Global Threat member “The Statement” Andreuw Tang has revealed that after Whiplash, there will only be one true Southeast Asia Champion when Da Butcherman (SPW) takes on Shivam (MYPW), with both groups’ championships on the line.
According to sources, Tang made a power play demanding the match and demanding it main event the show. This was then followed by disparaging comments made towards the IWA Championship, Jonathan Johnson, and King Kappa. His demands were then backed up by all RGT members refusing to work the event unless this match is the main event.
A look at the two champions - Shivam and Da Butcherman.
Da Butcherman has held the SPW SEA Championship since the end of last year, defeating The Statement himself for the title—an atrocity that Tang has yet to forgive and may well have led to RGT’s creation. In that time, he has been the definition of a fighting champion, defending the belt all around the Southeast Asian region against all challengers, including recently in the Philippines, and has already defended against Shivam (SPW CNY 3). This prior victory by Da Butcherman may hold him in good psychological stead against Shivam.
However, Malaysia’s favorite son has been on somewhat of a tear himself as champion since July last year when he defeated Wonderboy. Even compared to Da Butcherman, Shivam is considered the more vicious and aggressive. One contact of SEA Wrestling who was present at DEXCON Dakila suggested that Shivam was watching—stalking—Da Butcherman from the backstage area, as if he already knew this date with destiny was coming.
No matter who wins, we will have an Undisputed Southeast Asian Champion come June 28th, Bangkok, Thailand.
