Grapplemax NWE Showcase 4 Preview
Grapplemax return with the 4th installment of the NWE Showcase series, highlighting young up-and-coming talent in the promotion. Yet, this show isn’t just another platform for rising stars — it also marks significant in-ring returns, odd couple partnerships, and the comeback of one of the most unforgettable visiting wrestlers this year.
Let’s take a look at the four matchups happening on 13th September at Grapplemax Studios, Singapore.
International Tag Team Match - Ban Sachak & Nish vs Sage Matthews & Tydus
Stakes are high in this one as the two NWE talents who lost at Slam & Savour a few weeks ago now face off — but this time with high-profile partners. It’s an opportunity for both Nish and Tydus to gain momentum and prove they belong higher up the card.
Tydus, making a return after a long break, needs this match to show he can still perform at his former standard. Nish, only two matches in, is desperate for that very first win.
Standing beside Nish is Ban Sachak, a man with something to prove after two high-profile losses to Hotshot and Dick Togo. After suffering an aggressive beating from the latter, perhaps he has learned a trick or two that will come into play.
Across from him is Grapplemax’s favourite Backstreet Boy impersonator, Sage Matthews, who let SEA Wrestling know he returned to Singapore out of his own pocket for two reasons: his absolute love for the Southeast Asian wrestling circuit, and to shut the mouths of those disrespectful fans from Fight Club 5. A cocky, scrappy young journeyman, Matthews is a force to be reckoned with.
Simon Siah vs Justin
Not long ago, the high-flying Siah was standing across from Grapplemax veterans, looking to prove himself worthy. Now a top attraction on the shows, he looks to test the rising Justin in the ring.
But Justin should not be underestimated. Although still an NWE rookie, he’s already taken on some of the best in Singapore, including SPD, Ban Sachak, and Aussie Aussie Aussie. While often in defeat, he is likely feeling confident after his recent win against Nish at Slam & Savour.
This is an opportunity for both to stand out.
Endboss Gregory vs Kelvin Lang
Exhibition match or epic clash? After proving he was fully capable of stepping back into the ring with a dropkick to Hotshot at Slam & Savour, Grapplemax head Endboss Gregory now returns for a tune-up match. His chosen opponent is one of his standout trainees, Kelvin Lang — a man who has trained in both Singapore and the UK, meaning there could be a trick or two in store.
That said, Kelvin has limited experience with some of the Boss’ Japanese training, and the two have never stepped foot in the ring together before.
Neither competitor is one to back down, and this match could easily shift from respectful to heated in an instant. One thing is certain: their current rivals, Hotshot and Julian Creed, shouldn’t be around to cause any interference if they’ve decided to take an early flight.
Nathanial & Devan vs Shawn Phang & Big Dave
The top two NWE graduates team up again as they continue their transition from NWE to Grapplemax. Although yet to win as a duo, they’ve shown impressive chemistry, and with Grapplemax’s tag division becoming one of the hottest in the region, they want nothing more than to knock off one of the champions and his stand-in partner, Big Dave.
But the big man won’t take it lying down. That said, with a match in Manila the night before, his focus might be elsewhere. Meanwhile, Shawn Phang has to deal with a less-than-ideal partner for the evening. Can the duo get along and use their experience, or is this the night the next generation shines?
