FPW Astig July 13th Preview

Filipino Pro Wrestling returns with another Astig taping this Sunday. After a turbulent few months surrounding the FPW Championship including its vacation by Jeff Cobb (aka JC Mateo) and the exit of Chino Guinto from active competition — the promotion is back on track and ready to push things further than ever before.

What can fans expect at Astig on July 13?

WILL The FPW Championship be decided?

Originally it felt like the implication was that we would walk out of Astig with a new FPW champion. However now it looks like Red Ollero will clarify the matter.

There has been no official word on the match format or the competitors, but with the Metro Manila Championship being contested via a tournament, this one feels like it’ll be a one-and-done bout. A straight-up singles match between top contenders like Mike Madrigal and Quatro? A triple threat? A four-way? Maybe even a battle royal? Anything’s possible. All we know is that by the end of Sunday night, we’ll have a new FPW Champion — and that alone is worth the price of admission. We hope Ollero doesn't simply just award it to Quatro.

The Metro Manila Championship is born.

Yes, FPW is adding a second title — and it starts with a series of qualifying matches:

  • Duke Ortega vs Proximo

  • Jason Rex w/ Legendarius vs Robynn

  • Thiago vs Mharckie

  • Ralf Imabayashi vs Rex Lawin

Who’s the favorite?

If we had to bet, it’s hard to look past the momentum of Legendarius. The man has been everywhere this year — chalking up wins, making big-time appearances, and becoming a legit cultural icon in the Philippines. With Jason Rex under his wing, this duo might just bulldoze their way to championship gold.

Grapplemax "Invades" FPW

Alright, “invades” is a stretch — they’ve been invited. But there’s no mistaking the heat that Grapplemax from Singapore brings with them. As part of an exciting regional collaboration between FPW and Grapplemax, three of Singapore’s finest are heading to Makati:

  • Big Dave & Jullian Creed will team up, setting their egos aside (hopefully) to represent their flag. Their opponents? None other than The YOLO Twins, arguably the most seasoned tag team in the country. This could get messy — and very, very good.

  • SPD, fresh off his saga with Crypto Bro, is going solo this time around. Looking for a serious test, he’ll get one in the form of Cali Nueva, a veteran who’s not here to play gatekeeper — he’s here to win.

With championships on the line, international showdowns, and a locker room stacked with hunger and heart, FPW Astig is shaping up to be one of the most important events in the promotion’s history. Whether it’s the crowning of a new world champ, the birth of the Metro Manila title, or seeing how the Philippine stars match up against the visiting Grapplemax crew, there’s a lot at stake — and a lot to be excited about.
