Former VPW Wrestler Chi Bao Wins European Title

With thanks to Rocky Huynh (VPW) for sharing this fantastic news.

Last week in Denmark, former Vietnam Pro Wrestling standout Chi Bao captured the DPW (Dansk Pro Wrestling) Light Heavyweight Championship, marking a milestone moment both for his personal career and for Vietnamese representation in international professional wrestling.

The title change took place at DPW Bank, where Chi Bao challenged the reigning champion El Tesoro. El Tesoro had held the championship for more than 700 days, an exceptional title reign by any standard, making this victory not only historic but deeply symbolic. To end such a lengthy and dominant run underscores the scale of Chi Bao’s achievement and the level of confidence that the Danish promotion has placed in him as a performer and ambassador for the championship.

Chi Bao originally departed Vietnam last year after his “Loser Leaves Vietnam” match against Khoa Truong, an emotional and dramatic chapter in VPW storytelling. Following his exit, he relocated to Denmark and steadily inserted himself into the Northern European wrestling scene, training, performing, and integrating into a new wrestling culture while maintaining the spirit and fire that made him one of VPW’s most charismatic rising talents.

Winning the DPW Light Heavyweight Championship is not only Chi Bao’s first major professional title, but it also makes him the first Vietnamese national to win a recognized non-Vietnamese wrestling championship, and notably, the first to win a European championship. This is a significant landmark for Vietnamese wrestling, which continues to grow, evolve, and gain international visibility through the efforts and success of wrestlers like Chi Bao.

Dansk Pro Wrestling, established in 2004, has been a consistent presence in the Danish wrestling landscape for two decades, hosting events and developing talent across the region. Chi Bao now stands among its champions — representing both his new home and the place where his wrestling journey began.

Meanwhile, Vietnam Pro Wrestling continues building toward its final major show of the year. VPW Vietnamania takes place December 6th at VAIB Studios in Ho Chi Minh City. A huge card is expected, with more details to follow soon.
