Eight Men, One Exit: The Numbers Behind SETUP's Biggest Main Event

Coming up next week at SETUP Under the Same Moon in Bangkok is one of the biggest matches Southeast Asia has ever put together. A well built, action packed main event drove the fastest sellout of a SETUP show in some time, and the reason is simple. Eight of the region's best are in one ring, and one of them is leaving the company forever.

Real Global Threat take on the SEA All Star team of Carlo Cannon, Jonathan Johnson, Da Butcherman and Ares. If RGT lose, Shivam walks out of SETUP for good. If the All Stars lose, company founder Pumi is gone instead. Neither side has an obvious edge, so the fairest way to preview it is to go to the record books. Please note some figures may change and this is a kayfabe article.

How the records are counted

Every match below is one where two of these men were on opposing sides, including tags, multi mans, triple threats and battle royals. Matches where they were teammates are excluded.

That method has a small, known issue. In a battle royal won by somebody else, both men lost, but a straight head-to-head count credits one of them with a win anyway. Where that distortion is large, it is flagged, and there is an adjusted summary at the end that counts only matches in which one of the two men actually won.

Team SETUP All Stars

Carlo Cannon

Carlo Cannon is one of the most dangerous wrestlers in the world today. A powerhouse who looks as if he was built by Odin himself to give the other gods something to aspire to. Nobody in Asia has as deadly an arsenal of offence as Beautiful Death, which is why he is the longest reigning champion in Southeast Asia, a triple champion, and why Europe is still in fear of his name following a recent tour.

His history with Emman Azman is longer than it first appears, but it is unusual. The two have shared a ring on opposite sides six times, and five of those are Australian battle royals and multi man scrambles from the MCW and BCW circuit in 2023 and 2024, including two Ballroom Brawls, a fifteen man rumble, a four way for the BCW Battle Express Title shot and the BCW Championship Battle Jumble. In every one of those five, a third man won and both Cannon and Azman went home empty handed. The only time one of them beat the other was at MYPW Bad Romance in February 2020, when Cannon defeated Emman The Kid in a singles match. Worth noting too that the pair have been regular partners as two thirds of The Midnight3, so the raw opposing record undersells how much of their shared history is on the same side.

Against Shivam, Cannon and the RGT founder tore the house down at MYPW Fightback 24 with Carlo reigning supreme. Shivam got it back last year, beating two All Stars at once when he won the IWA Japan Championship in a triple threat with Cannon and Jonathan Johnson.

Cannon has never faced Jake De Leon. The two were due to meet at Wrestlestorm 2 earlier this year, but the match was postponed.

His most even rivalry is with The Statement. Five recorded meetings, two wins each, one draw.

Record against RGT: 4 wins, 8 losses, 1 draw, though five of those losses are matches Azman also lost.

Ares

New Japan Pro Wrestling's newest dojo recruit Ares' record is phenomenal and shows exactly why The Unstoppable Force is such a hot prospect right now. Also known as The SEA Monster, he has taken the very best in the region to the absolute limit over the past three years and is the only three time Vietnam Pro Wrestling Champion in history.

In 2024 he defeated both Jake De Leon and The Statement in singles competition. JDL has since evened that score at DEXCON's recent Battlepass weekend, and Ares also came up just short against Shivam at SETUP Absolute Mayhem.

He has never faced Emman Azman.

Record against RGT: 2 wins, 2 losses

Jonathan Johnson

The youngest, lightest and fastest member of the All Stars feels like a veteran but is still very young. His spirited performances push opponents to the limit, but youth makes mistakes. X-Rated Jonathan Johnson is learning fast and getting better year on year, especially with increasing trips to Japan. It will not be long before he is one of the most dominant wrestlers in Asia.

JJ has spent his entire career fighting Shivam, going back to the Gatoh Move days, and the two have met for at least three different titles. The ledger is not kind, at 2 wins to 5 losses with 2 draws.

Against Jake De Leon it is one apiece. Johnson beat The Filipino Fighting Rooster in a four way at Jam Of The Joshis but lost a DEXCON World Championship match at SETUP Absolute Mayhem.

Emman Azman holds a tag victory over Johnson from 2023 but lost decisively in 2025 at SETUP Paranoid in Johnson's IWA Japan World Title defence.

Against The Statement, Johnson sits at 1 win and 3 losses, having worked his way up to a hard fought win last year in a match that also included Chris Brookes. Perhaps nobody has suffered more at the hands of RGT than JJ.

Record against RGT: 5 wins, 10 losses, 2 draws

Da Butcherman

The former SPW Champion and triple crown champion is one of the most ferocious and terrifying veterans in the region, and he brings by far the deepest history into this match.

He holds the advantage over Shivam at 3 wins to 2 losses with a draw across six fearsome battles.

His most formidable opponent is fellow Singaporean The Statement, a rivalry stretching back to 2018 across sixteen recorded meetings. Butcherman has 7 wins against 8 losses with 1 draw. It is the longest running feud on this card by some distance, taking in the SPW Southeast Asian Title on several occasions, the double DQ title versus title match at Storm The Dorm in 2022, and Butcherman's title win over Tang at Crowning Glory in November 2024.

He only faced Emman Azman for the first time last year and has won both meetings, though neither was a singles match.

Against Jake De Leon he is unbeaten across three matches and a Rumble, all tags or multi mans, for a 3-0-1 record.

Record against RGT: 15 wins, 10 losses, 3 draws

Real Global Threat

Real Global Threat are the most talked about faction in Southeast Asian wrestling, and they did not get there by accident. Founded by Shivam and built on the idea that the region's talent should be measured against the world rather than against itself, the group has spent the last few years collecting titles, main events and international bookings across Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and Australia. Between them, Shivam, The Statement, Jake De Leon and Emman Azman have held championships in more promotions than most wrestlers appear in, and their reach is the reason a SETUP main event can sell out this fast.

They are also, on the evidence below, the more experienced side against these specific opponents. Three of the four have long histories with the All Stars, and two of them hold winning records.

The Statement

The most battle tested man in the match on either side at 13 wins, 11 losses and 2 draws. Almost all of that volume comes from the Butcherman rivalry, where he holds a narrow 8-7-1 edge, and he is the only RGT member with a winning record against two different All Stars.

Shivam

9 wins, 6 losses and 3 draws. His 5-2-2 over Jonathan Johnson is the most lopsided sustained rivalry on the card, and he has recent wins over both Ares and Cannon inside the past year. For a man whose SETUP career is on the line, he arrives in form.

Emman Azman

Shows 6 wins and 4 losses, which is the most misleading line in this preview. Five of those six wins are battle royals and scrambles he also lost. Strip those out and he is 1-4, with his only genuine victory over anyone on the All Star team a 2023 tag win against Johnson.

Jake De Leon

2 wins, 5 losses and 1 draw. The Filipino Fighting Rooster has never beaten Da Butcherman and has never shared a ring with Carlo Cannon, though his 2024 win over Ares at Battlepass is the freshest result on this list.

Who holds the best individual record?

Da Butcherman leads the field on raw wins. Fifteen victories over the men standing across from him is more than anyone else in the match, and he holds a winning record against three of the four RGT members.

Now the adjusted view. Counting only matches in which one of the two men actually won, three lines move. Butcherman goes to 15-7-3, because three of his eight losses to The Statement were multi mans won by somebody else, the 2020 Chinese New Year battle royal and the recent Fatal Four Ways at Tranquilo and Showdown. The Statement drops to 10-11-2. Cannon returns to 4-3-1 and Azman falls to 1-4.

Either way the top of the table does not change. Butcherman is the most proven man in this match on both counts, and on win rate he is the strongest too at 60 percent inclusive and 68 percent adjusted. Shivam matches the inclusive figure at 60 percent over a shorter and much more recent sample, which is the case for saying he is the most dangerous man in the match right now rather than the most decorated.

The other thing the adjusted numbers do is expose how little of this is settled. Jake De Leon has never had a singles match with Da Butcherman. Cannon and Azman have beaten each other exactly once in six years. Ares and Azman have never met at all.

SETUP Under the Same Moon has done something rare. It has taken eight wrestlers with genuinely tangled history across five countries and put them in one ring with a stake nobody can shrug off. Shivam or Pumi. One of them does not come back.

The numbers give you a lean, not an answer. Da Butcherman is the most proven man in the building, with more wins over this opposition than anyone else and a record that only improves when you strip out the multi man noise. Shivam is the most in form, carrying recent victories over two All Stars and the shortest, sharpest win rate in the match. The Statement has been in more of these fights than anybody, and has come out the wrong side of just enough of them to make him the most interesting man on the card.

Everything else is open. Four of the sixteen possible pairings in this match have never happened. That is the part the records cannot help with, and it is exactly why the Bangkok crowd bought the building out.
