Causeway Jam '26 — By The Numbers: A Look At The Stats For MYPW's Face Off With Grapplemax

This weekend, Causeway Jam returns to the KuAsh Theatre in TTDI, Kuala Lumpur. The show is the next instalment in the series that puts the best of Grapplemax against the best of MYPW, and this year the card is stacked from top to bottom. Below is a look at the numbers, the history and what each match means going in.

Things Worth Knowing Before The Bell

This is the first match back in Southeast Asia for MYPW Southeast Asia Champion Miles Karu following his excursion to DDT in Japan. It is also his first defence of the title he won from Shivam.

It is the first Causeway Jam to feature Emman Azman since 2023. Azman is a member of Real Global Threat, but he competes here as part of Team MYPW, and this is the first time an RGT member has shared a card with the Grapplemax roster.

Endboss GREGORY wrestles at the KuAsh Theatre for the first time in over two years.

The show will also be the first public appearance of the brand new MYPW ring. From what has been shown so far, it looks to be a Japanese style ring rather than to what was in our opinion something closer to a British wrestling ring. In our opinion, that detail matters more than it might sound, because a ring of that type is much closer to what the Grapplemax roster works in every week, and the away team may feel more at home than usual.

International Three Way: Kaizul vs Dean Zaid vs Shota

I have been lucky enough to see all three of these wrestlers in action, and this is a strong way to open the card.

Shota has been something of a mentor to Miles Karu and to other talent across the region. He is a seasoned veteran, and he has the experience to simply outwrestle both of his opponents if the match settles into a straight contest.

Dean Zaid is hungry, cocky and powerful. He debuted this year and, in this writer's opinion, he will be a breakout star over the next twelve months.

Kaizul is the top contender to the Southeast Asia Championship. He is crafty, skilled, and willing to do whatever it takes to win.

Prediction: Kaizul sneaks a win over Shota. In a three way, the man holding a title contract has the most to lose from a defeat and the most reason to take the easiest route to victory.

Tag Team Match: Cornelius LOW & Edward Tan vs Thommy Ardhi & Cikgu Ken

After a rocky start as a team, Cornelius LOW has a new plan. Rather than chasing the top spot in MYPW straight away, he and Edward Tan are focused on building momentum one win at a time.

Thommy Ardhi, meanwhile, wants to bounce back after his surprise Raya Rumble elimination at the hands of debutant Dean Zaid. He is joined by the ever popular Cikgu Ken, who makes his MYPW main show debut here.

The open question is whether Team LOW will have backup at ringside in the form of Sarah Coldheart.

Prediction: LOW and Tan win due to some nefarious means

Causeway Jam Matches

Divya vs Poppy

This is a rematch from last year's Causeway Jam, a heated contest that both women built up by cutting sharp promos on each other beforehand. Divya won that match despite interference, and the two were then part of the closing brawl between Grapplemax and MYPW.

Since then, Poppy and Wonderboy defeated Divya and Hotshot at the first Amplify event, which makes this the rubber match between the two. Poppy also holds a win over Sarah and Syawal from the first Causeway Jam.

This is Divya's first match in Malaysia and her first for MYPW.

Prediction: Poppy. She holds the more recent win in the rivalry, she has a better record across the Causeway Jam series, and a home win in Kuala Lumpur is the natural way to set up a decider later in the year.

MYPW Southeast Asia Championship: Miles Karu (c) vs Jullian Creed

Jullian Creed needs a win to start climbing back towards the main event picture after Jinn Kai stepped in and took the Openweight Championship, ending Creed's run at the top of the contendership.

The two men were on opposite sides at Causeway Jam '24 in Kuala Lumpur, when Team Grapplemax beat Team MYPW in an eight man match. Creed sits at one win and three losses across the Causeway Jam series, although one of those was a pure Grapplemax contest rather than a cross promotional one. That eight man match is also his only match in Malaysia to date.

Miles Karu is eager to defend the title and show what he picked up in Japan. This is his first defence. His Causeway Jam record, however, is not good reading, as he is nought for four and has lost every match he has had at the event. His overall win rate in Malaysia sits at roughly sixty to seventy percent.

Prediction: Karu retains, and does it with some of the new offence he brought back from his DDT excursion.

Grapplemax Tag Team Championships: GST (c) vs LOVExFRDM

This is an interesting pairing. Last year's Causeway Jam was only the second match LOVExFRDM had as a team, and if Fienic Rose had refused to team with Syawal again, we might never have had one of the most exciting young teams in the region. They beat Heaven & Earth in that, their only Causeway Jam appearance so far. Since then they have become Grapplemax regulars, held the SETUP Tag Team Championships, and built a strong reputation across Southeast Asia in a short space of time. This is their first meeting with both Big Dave and Endboss GREGORY.

GST are about as old school a team as you can find in Southeast Asia, dating back to 2013. They are former AWGC champions and the current Grapplemax Tag Team Champions in what has been a successful comeback run. They defeated Faizul and Gotham in their 2018 Causeway Jam match.

GREGORY is one and two in Causeway Jam matches and seven and six in Malaysia overall. Big Dave is four and four at Causeway Jam, with wins over Miles Karu, Wonderboy and Jack Alexander among others, and five and four in Malaysia. GREGORY is also the only Grapplemax representative to have held an MYPW championship, having held the MYPW World to Regional Championship for 427 days across 2017 and 2018.

Prediction: GST retain, but LOVExFRDM will push them hard and come out of it looking strong.

Jinn Kai vs Jack Alexander

This is not for the Openweight Championship, which is a shame, because Jack Alexander would have made a very good first challenger.

Jinn Kai is handsome, charismatic and technically sound. Jack Alexander is charismatic in a very different way, a strange and fearless risk taker who is on a roll right now, turning heads in hardcore matches across the region.

The two have never met. This is only Jinn Kai's second Causeway Jam match, the first being a loss in 2023 at the Singapore based event, where he teamed with Xtian against Emman Azman and JAGO. It is also his first overseas match since January 2024, when he lost the Wrestlesquare Cruiserweight Title to Alpha G in a four way with AVI and Crypto Bro LK at SETUP Thailand.

For Jack Alexander, it has been two years since he last faced Grapplemax opposition. He is one and two at Causeway Jam, having been part of the losing Team MYPW in 2024, beaten Inglorius and Showtime Inc in Singapore, and lost to Aussie Aussie Aussie in 2023 while teaming with Miles Karu.

Prediction: Jack Alexander just about beats the champion and earns himself a title shot in Singapore.

Main Event: Team Grapplemax (SPD, Ban Sachak, Kelvin Lang) vs Team MYPW (Wonderboy, Emman Azman, Bobby Sinaga)

The internal conflicts on both teams make this very hard to call.

On the Grapplemax side, Kelvin Lang attacked Ban Sachak and then used spray to win the ladder match that took the Rising Championship from him. Putting those two on the same team is asking for trouble.

On the MYPW side, Wonderboy and Emman Azman have continued to feud, driven in part by Azman's membership in Real Global Threat. The last MYPW show saw Azman beat Wonderboy, and both men played a part in Miles Karu defeating Shivam for the MYPW Southeast Asia Championship. Bobby Sinaga, by contrast, simply wants to hurt people, and we like Bobby.

By the numbers: SPD is one and one at Causeway Jam, having beaten Miles Karu last year in Singapore, and his only Malaysian match was a win over Blazing Raj and Syawal. Ban Sachak is two for two at Causeway Jam, although the first of those was a pure Grapplemax match, and this is his first match in Malaysia. Kelvin Lang lost his only Causeway Jam appearance last year to Kaizul in a three way that also included Jullian Creed, and this is his Malaysian debut. It is Bobby Sinaga's Causeway Jam debut, and Wonderboy's first non singles match at the event. Wonderboy has beaten GREGORY in Kuala Lumpur in 2024 and Crypto Bro LK in Singapore in 2024, and lost to Hotshot in 2025 and Big Dave in 2023, both in Singapore. His Malaysian record is difficult to confirm publicly, as it does not appear to include his APAC matches. Emman Azman is one for one at Causeway Jam from 2023, and holds a notable win over GREGORY.

Prediction: Too close to call, but this should be an excellent match whichever way it goes.

Final Thoughts

On paper this is one of the strongest Causeway Jam cards yet. There are two championship matches, a first title defence for a returning champion, a debut for a new ring, and a main event where both teams have good reason not to trust each other. The absence of the Causeway Jam Cup also means there is no overall score to protect, which in this writer's opinion frees the bookers to let each match stand on its own.
