BLACKHEART LIO RUSH SET TO INVADE SPW OVERDRIVE
Singapore Pro Wrestling has confirmed one of the most talked-about free agents in the business for its next major show. Ring of Honor TV Champion "Blackheart" Lio Rush will make his SPW debut at Overdrive on 18 September, marking his first appearance in Singapore.
Rush has spent the past year building one of wrestling's most distinct characters. Wrestling under the "Blackheart" persona for AEW and ROH, he performs with jerking, unnatural movements that suggest something else is controlling him mid-match, paired with the same fast, hard-hitting style that made him a standout in WWE's cruiserweight division and later in AEW. The act has turned him into one of the most unpredictable presences on American television, and his booking for Overdrive gives SPW a genuine crossover name to headline the card.
An opponent has not yet been announced, though SPW has said more details will follow on its channels in the coming weeks. Given the strength of SPW's roster, names like CK Vin, Da Butcherman and Dr Gore would all make sense as dance partners, offering a mix of styles that could bring the best out of Rush's chaotic in-ring approach. A run-in from a returning face is also not out of the question, given how often SPW has used its shows to set up future angles.
Overdrive continues a strong run of momentum for the promotion, which has steadily built its reputation through packed houses at the Foo Chow Building and a growing list of international bookings, including recent appearances from names like Minoru Suzuki. Bringing in a champion as visible as Rush signals SPW's continued push to put Singapore on the map for wrestling fans well beyond Southeast Asia.
Tickets for Overdrive are on sale now, with prices ranging from $50 for General Admission up to $100 for Ringside. The show takes place at the Foo Chow Building on 18 September, with bell time set for 7pm.
